Tim Tebow a Cowboy?

Not that I disagree with your assessment of what they should do...but I believe they will draft him in the first round for economic reasons, if for nothing else.

Think of it this way...He's a Florida native who was a local/national hero, multiple championship winner, and Heisman winner at their biggest college. The Jacksonville franchise is in desperate need of a way to attract more fans and season ticket holders. What better way than to bring in a hometown favorite like Tebow?

They are going to come to the game to watch him stand on the sidelines and hold a clipboard?

You'll alienate the fans that you do have if you put him in over Garrard and he stinks and you lose a bunch of games.

It's hard to think of what position he might play in the pros other than QB:

1. OLB - he has good size and speed for the position and being a former QB would help him with understanding reads but that would be a major projection.

2. Safety - I think he's too slow

3. WR - too slow

4. TE - He has fringe size, who knows about his blocking or pass catching abilities

5. RB - this is probably closest to his actual position in college but he isn't fast or elusive enough to be a RB in the NFL.

6. FB - Hard projection to make because of the tremendous physical toughness required to play this position. However, it is probably the best overall match for his physical measurements.

How glad/mad would you be if the cowboys ended up getting Tim Tebow? Personally I think he is a great guy but i dont think we should get him there is no area that he could help the cowboys in.

Dang. I would be happy about it. The guy just wins. Conventional or unconventional. And you cannot deny his character. He will be a valued addition to whichever team he gets drafted by.

Here's a crazy thought. How about QB? He can't be any worse than Vince Young considering the college offenses that both have come from.

Now that is funny! :laugh2:

Tebow as a Cowboy isn't a bad idea at all.

Just remind me again when it was that the Cowboys joined the CFL.

You know what will put fans in the seats in Jacksonville (and in any NFL city) - consistent winning. Sure, rolling out Tebow as a hometown novelty act might give you a boost for a game or two, but if he goes 6-24 for 120 yards and 3 picks, those new fans are going to be instantly turned off. If coming out to see Tebow is enough to drive ticket sales, draft him in the 5th round and make him your halftime show. He can run through a wall of opposing fans decked out in their team colors and give them a sermon on chastity afterwards. As a GM, I'd look elsewhere for my starting QB.

I would love it ..... the guy is a class act who would make us a better football team backing up Romo.

Would be in total shock. I like the kid but he has major question marks as a QB and is a complete unknown at any other position he may get moved to. I see no way Dallas goes after Tebow

But can he hold for fg/xp's? :D

it would be a completely wasted pick for us
tebow will never be a good QB in the NFL
we have 3 QBs better than him on the roster right now

So you actually think Tebow is an upgrade to Kitna?

He has more upside for the future.

I know the real reason so many are down on Tebow.

I like the kid myself and while I have major doubts about his ability at the next level I hope he proves me and all of his doubters wrong. For the Cowboys I think this is too important of a draft to take a risk on Tebow. Face it we are not going to be big players on FA market so if we are to upgrade areas for today and the future this draft is going to be critical

Yes, they did. Especially during his senior season. Because I'm in ACC country I saw him play alot during his four years at N.C. State. His release and arm strength were always a question mark. Didn't really play in a pro style offense either. Much of his snaps came in shotgun. Not all of them like Tebow, but a good bit. He has always been accurate though.

As for Tebow, you are way off on the arm strength. The kid has a cannon. Displayed it alot during his four years at Florida. He's also pretty accurate. The questions about him are his motion, can he play under center and can he go through progressions. The last two we simply don't know because he was never asked to do it at Florida.
Tebow...a cannon?

Anyway, I digress. It's the Rivers comments that blew me away the most. It was a flip of the coin on who should be the 1st overall pick...Rivers or Manning. They both were considered outstanding pro prospects that required nothing more than pro experience. There were detractors early on regarding Rivers--in part because he had so little exposure at State compared to a guy like Tebow at Florida. But once the scouts saw Rivers up close, all of those questions were answered.

Maybe Tebow can help himself at the combines. I like him on a personal level and as a leader. Right now, however, I do not think he would make a good NFL QB. I hope he developes into one someday.

Oh I would not waste anything but a very low draft pick for him .... but the question was if I would like him on the team.

And I would love him on the team.

I think we have other areas to address and backup QB is not one of them.

Again I agree ...... but that is not the question I was answering.
