does this worry anyone? i mean it seems like we finaly have the corners locked up and there hitting there upper 20s and thirties newmans been in the leauge 3 years henry 5 or 6. champ bailey has been in the leauge 8 years i think. and is 28. we will be having to pick up corners quietly in the next couple years in later rounds but not to soon we may have another hole at cb.

Newman might be 29 but he doesn't have the miles that a normal 29 year old corner might have. He was in the NCAA until 25 playing a different game. I think he'll age a big differently for us that most corners do when they come in so early (Champ). Not saying we need to consider the future soon, but Glenn is the 3rd, Reeves is 4 and the future 3 if we're lucky.

Newman will be 28 in September, not 29, Henry will turn 30 in in November

barring very serious injury, both should be playing at a high level for at least 3 or 4 more seasons

I think we already have our next starter on the roster in J. Reeves. He looks pretty solid to me, time will tell though.

Reeves has to be the guy to step up, if not we need to draft or sign a CB next year because Glenn probably only has a season or two left in him.

Yet more evidence at how delusional some of the fans are here.

Yeah, our team is screwed unless we have 21 year old pro bowlers at cornerbacks.

These 28 year and 30 year old corners are UNACCEPTABLE.

We should have drafted CB in the first round for sure.

________

Seriously, what the heck is wrong with you? Do you think 28 years old is OLD? WTH would you be worried about Newmans age??????? He has at least 5 good years left in him. We got Deion at the young age of.... 29! And he played up until he was 38.

I am sick and tired of these fans who complain and act as if it is reasonable to demand that the Cowboys have 23 year Old Pro Bowlers starting at every position with 21 year old Pro Bowlers backing them up 2 deep.

It is simply inconcievable to me how any sane person could be worried about Terrance Newman as your starting cornerback.

This really doesn't concern me that much. Since neither has been in the league for all that long they have not been taking the pounding that other guys their age have taken and therefore should be able to play to a little bit older age before breaking down. I expect at least 3 or 4 more good years out of each of them. But as always you have to continually bring in new talent to replace guys as they age on you.

You don't keep guys on the bench nowadays like you did in the past, I don't know why so many Dallas fans obsess over players' ages. I guess they're just spoiled. These guys will be around for a while, and when their time comes, they'll be replaced as best as possible, same as anybody else. You just can't stash high quality cornerbacks on your roster anymore.

I have a feeling Terence will be effective til' at least his mid 30's at CB. He seems to be more of a natural athlete. Henry seems to be of the same mold, but I dont quite have the same projection for him.

Did Newman start college late?

I think he was in college for a full 5 years because his football career took awhile before it took off.

He was 24 when he graduated.

ummm i dont think a player is measured by age my friend . . . its more like how long he has been in the NFL. Deangelo Hall came in at 20 years old and after by 28 he will have had 8 years of NFL pounding while Tnewman came in at 24 and by 28 he will have had 4 years of NFL pounding. you got to look at time spent playing the game and not age. and CBs last til mid-30s anyways . . .

While most are jumping on the original poster... I understand the concern. I can certainly see us stepping up and drafting perhaps a 2nd or 3rd round corner next year depending upon circumstances.

Just a guess, but Newman seems like the clean living type that could play a lot of years no matter when he started.
