Nothing is worth the Cancer of having TO on the team.
I would not give him 50 cents to stay. The best thing the Cowboys (or for that matter 49's or Philty) could ever do is cut him.
TO is nothing like Irvin. I did not like Irvin's off field bull and drugs but he was a team player and he wanted the Cowboys to win. TO only cares about TO, nothing more.

I do not want anyone to learn ANYTHING from TO. He is a cancer and a waste of the earth's precious oxygen. Give him back to Philty.

Let's weight this one out.

Pro's
Works hard in practice
Works hard in games
Has a desire to win
Mentors young players to make them better

Cons
Fans perception that he is cancer.

I think he comes back next year.

so 9 years of sideline antics, calling out coaches and teammates, fighting players, saying things to media then denying he said it, dressing down coaches on TV during and after games, spitting in opponents faces, constant complaining of not getting enough plays, dropping balls and giving up on routes is all perception huh....?

do you remember him calling Garcia gay?
do you remember him saying Philly would be better with Favre?
do you remember screaming at the WR coach on the sideline (here and in SF)?
do you remember him taking shots at the Philly front office for not stopping the game and honoring his 100th touchdown catch?,
do you remember him being traded to Ravens and refusing to report to the team?

i mean do you remember anything or do you just assume it was all a bad dream and you woke up and we are all still sleeping?

before he came here to Dallas EVERY ONE hated the guy and said the same things about him that some are still saying ....now all of a sudden hes been wrongly accused......unbelievable .........the guy is a selfish jerk only concerned with padding his stats and looking good on TV........

and if you think the routine he does on the sideline is just showing heart and not a selfish me,me,me, tirade you are mistaken........just because the likes of Ed Werder exagerate some of the info they get......dont forget in the words of your beloved T.O. ........"if it looks like a rat, smells like a rat, then it must be a rat"

eh, i think irvin was ray lewis for dallas

TO is not irvin, he has no way with words. he's just a hard worker that should lead by example like ware. but instead tries to be a vocal leader because he's narcissistic.

well he did have criminal issues like Lewis but unlike Lewis, his actions cost us a SB because if he doesn't miss those five games to start 1996, I think we win the SB that year

I really hope that the WRs and Romo get together a lot more this offseason and really work hard on getting timing and such down with one another.

This would require Romo to actually separate himself from Jessica and (god forbid) spend some of his offseason actually building relationships with receivers not named Witten. What's the over/under on that happening?

If Cowher doesn't come TO will get paid. NEXT QUESTION.

Ahh... the real reason why he was so diplomatic after the game.

3.1 million reasons why. It's funny how when the season is over, reality sets in and TO realizes that the only team that would take him would be the Cowboys and that he needs to learn how to say less and be a team member. Just like Pacman, this is his last chance to collect a check and be on an NFL team.

I hope Jerry cuts him before no matter how bad our wrs corps are.

don't bet on it, there are a number of teams who would take him.

as for your last comment, I will file that in the "cut off your nose to spite your face" folder

Even Steve Dennis said today on 103.3 that he thinks TO is the cause of the gradual decline in team chemistry he's witnessed over the last year plus. Said he thinks it's time for TO to go.

And he's always been a TO defender up to now. Galloway has always kidded him about it.

Tell me what teams would take him? Please... share.

And yes, you can put it in that folder, but I dare to believe that we would be that much worse without him. Why can't Romo learn how to be a Tom Brady type qb who can go through his progressions and be productive with what we currently have? I could easily see it happen with productive coaching and it would allow Romo not to feel TO's peer pressure in forcing the ball into him when he has numerous other options (RW, Crayton, AMiles, and Witten). Yes, I agree that Romo needs to grow up and be a leader, but at this point, he hasn't reached that level just yet.

I hear that from different football guys all the time. Some with agendas some with out. Only some fans don't see it.

You know it's funny. TO is a great WR and a good football player. He certainly isn't in the top ranks of a teammate though, and how much evidence from his past or even his present do you need. Jerry knows this, accepts it, and welcomes the attention it causes.

BUT, I really don't understand the people that think Owens is misconstrued. For God's sake the guy has his own TShirt line that goes out and states I LOVE ME SOME ME!". He is a genius marketing narcissist.

I also think he is a guy that puts his own needs before that of his team overall or other teammates. He wants the limelight and wants the spotlight and wants attention and yes, he wants to be successful. He just isn't willing to do it other peoples way, it has to be HIS way. And that is what causes friction and what isn't great for a TEAM!

I am sorry, do you personally know TO? I don't think so. You only know what the biased media reports. Has he made mistakes in the past? Of course. However, one thing has been consistant. His former teammates say he is a good teammate.

I would love to come by your job and nit pick everything you do and blast it on the news. The man comes to play football everyweekend. There are only a couple other guys on the team that can say that, your hate is childish and unfounded, but whatever.

Steve dennis loves owens.

Steve dennis works with laufenberg everyday.

Laufenberg talks to garrett all the time.

Do the math. Brad sham who works with laufenberg everyweek was caught saying how bad of a guy owens is for this team when he thought he was off the air larry brown agreed.

Sham gets that from laufenberg-garrett who all talk alot. So do the math. Steve Dennis knows that behind the scenes the guy is everything that is anti-team.

It can not happen soon enough. Someone needs to grow a pair of brass ones and clean house soon to make a statement. And the players that whine about him leaving need to be told tough, get over it.

In your opinion, if Jerry had to ultimately choose b/w Garrett and TO in the offseason, who do you think he'll side with? I'm thinking the former b/c Jerry didn't bend backwards and forwards to nab him on this coaching staff for nothing.

Absolutely. I despised the guy before he got here, but gave him a chance. No mas. Apart from all the drama, which makes me ill, I believe that the guy is too close to the edge re: his physical skills. I realize that he is an athletic freakshow, but Father Time catches up to everyone. When you are player like TO, who relys on physical abilities and athleticism versus precision route running and tremendous hands, when your body starts to decline, uh-oh. He becomes a very expensive Anthony Miller.

It is time for him to go. If we can't move the ball with RW, Crayton, Miles Austin, Witten, Bennett, Barber, F. Jones, MBIII and Romo, I will be shocked.

How exactly did he show he cared?

Saying the right thing in press conferences doesn't mean much.

1. Did he always run his routes until the very end?
2. Did he try to protect his QB from a pick if the ball was underthrown?
3. Did he ever say 'my bad, I dropped too many balls'?
4. Was he a leader on this team who tried to pull the players and coaches together?

He has fire. He goes out and plays hard.

And you can say all the above about every WR in the NFL.

As far as the last one, as I said originally it's mostly BS. You got sucked.

Good post and you are absolutely correct.

I know the TO lovers will hate even saying it... But IMO if you came out and cut TO, cut Pacman, and let Tank go -- and also let go any of the other malcontents and soft players like Carpenter and Courtney Brown -- you could do a world of good for this team.

We need a change in mentality and chemistry more than anything.

And as a bonus, everyone in the sports world would hail us for cutting TO. It would restore a lot of credibility to the people in charge around Valley Ranch.

But like the others said... Fat chance. Or slim chance. Or no chance.

You are right on all counts, IMO.
