No he hasn't.

And everyone knows you have zero credibility where TO is concerned.

Apparently not just here, but all over the internet.

You really need to stop getting all butt hurt when someone doesn't love your hero the same way you do.

Ouch.

Why do the TO groupies take it so personally? Are they self-appointed "empaths" programmed to feel TO's pain? The mystery widens.

No, it's actually rather simple.

If you have the right to post your ignorant BS on a regular basis, I have the right to call you on it any time I feel like it.

That would make sense ... if you were TO. I'm guessing you're just a run of the mill toady who mistakes TO's "hard work and superior conditioning" for "good teammate and positive locker room presence." Pretty sure your hero doesn't need you riding to his "rescue." Nor are we obligated to indulge your pathetic cronyism or validate the little fantasy world you've built for yourself. In the words of Jack Nicholson, "Go sell crazy somewhere else."

Nope. I'm just a guy who isn't so delusional that he thinks Terrell Owens, who is really little more than a shy, stubborn, southern black man (that should be a subculture)...a guy who is laid back most of the time...is some sort of deranged monster who is ravaging the locker room in a fit of rage and selfishness. A dominoes-playing, every-one-of-the receivers-and-running-backs-on-the-roster-are-friends-of-his, team captain, favorite-movie-is-The-Notebook, monster who is so intimidating and unruly, players and coaches alike are taken aback, and constantly adjust their game plans to appease this guy, walking on eggshells, JUST so that he doesn't....................................YELL AT THEM.

Of course, if they WERE trying to appease Owens to the detriment of the offense this year, they obviously weren't doing a very good job of it, since, according to you, he was a horrible teammate this year and "blew up" all over the place. He also had his least productive season since 1999.

Owens's production dropped, the offense dropped off dramatically, you claim he blew up all over the place...the team missed the playoffs...maybe they should've done a better job of "placating T.O." after all.

Maybe then he would have had his usual numbers, or even better. Then the offense probably would've been better, the team better, and he probably wouldn't have had any manufactured, ERRRR...totally real and verified by the most prestigious anonymous sources in the entire league....blowups. Then he wouldn't have "single-handedly destroyed the team chemistry" and everything would've been peaches.

But I digress.

There are people who understand how locker rooms work (people like me), and then there are people who are unable to separate reality from entertainment. People like you.

It's a men's locker room, not a soap opera.

I am not huge fan of TO, but I do not think he has done enough to warrant getting released.

Unlike some posters, I go by what I see on the field and not by what ESPN and Ed Werder tell me.

If I am releasing anybody, it will start with Proctor and his "ole'" blocks. I then move over to QB and cut both BJ and Bollinger, and then I start on the coaching staff, mainly Bruce Read and Brian Stewart.

I then comeback to WR and evaluate what I have if I cut TO:

1. Roy Williams---cant run a route for jack, even Aikman knows what route he is running from the freaking press box. Aikman said "you can tell that the route was going to be a slant by the way Roy is choppy with his feet".

What the $%^&!!!!!! If freaking Aikman can tell the route from the freaking press box, you dont think the other team can tell from 5 yards away???

2. Patrick Crayton---Single handedly cost us a playoff game by giving up on a perfectly thrown TD pass by Romo that would have beat the G-men.

I will never forgive Crayton for that, never.

3. Hurd---The guy is a walking ankle sprain, has no speed, and hasnt scored a TD in like forever.

4. Stanback----the "project" is over schedule and over budget, time to cut our losses and move on.

5. Austin---The only one of this group that actually gives a dam and goes balls to the wall. He is not yet starter material, but dam close.

Considering my OC learned how to call plays from TECMO BOWL, I think I am going to keep TO after looking over the list above.

But thats just me.

Cue the violins. What does Owens being a shy, stubborn, southern black man have to do with anything? Most of the players in the NFL are black. Many of them are from the south. I would imagine some percentage are shy and stubborn. Heck, Witten is a shy, stubborn, southern white man.

You intrigue me, though, with your contention that you, rather than some others, understand how locker rooms work. Many of us played team sports at least through college. Some of us played a little beyond college. Why is it your knowledge is so rare? That isn't a sarcastic question. I'm intrigued.

You have, apparently, made quite a name for yourself in NFL message board circles, moving in nomadic fashion from one team site to another, preaching the gospel of Terrell Owens, even to the point of being banned. It is your right, of course, but I find it an intriguing "fan" experience. Why the passion?

In your world, Owens hasn't made any mistakes, hasn't caused any problems. In fact, let him alone, and he will heal the sick and raise the dead. If anyone has an opinion other than yours, you attack with name calling and extreme condescension, while here Bleu Star follows behind with his little hammer and nail image. There isn't room for another point of view, and you make assertions and accusations based on one thing -- the other poster thinks Owens isn't worth the trouble. Again, other than the obnoxious behavior, this is your right. You may judge anyone's worth based on that person's opinion of Owens. But I find it an unusual quest.

Your "the best defense is a good offense" strategy in taking on anything remotely negative toward Owens is impressive. You accumulate some decent arguments. But the best debaters do not overreach, and in my opinion, that tendency is your downfall.

Two teams have rid themselves of Owens -- a splendid football player -- for bags of jelly beans. The Cowboys were alone among 31 teams (31! I exclude the Eagles, for obvious reasons) in making a serious bid for his services the last time he was a free agent. Dallas was able to sign him to a gimmicky, put up or shut up contract.

You are making the argument, it seems, that this phenomenon had nothing at all to do with Owens' behavior, nothing at all to do with his presence in the locker room, or to his affect on teammates. Those 30 teams that didn't line up behind Jones to sign Owens acted, not in their best interest, but because... because what? Because what?

Again, though you've called me a "hater" and a "holiday cancer," I have no animosity toward Owens. I disliked his act when he was with the 49ers and the Eagles, but that seems rather understandable, me being a lifelong Cowboys fan and those teams being major rivals. I was not in favor of the Owens signing -- that's true. In that regard, I was guilty of the sin that plagued 30 NFL general managers.

But once Owens was a Cowboy, he was a Cowboy. I cheered for him. I appreciated what he brought to the table. In the last quarter of the 2008 season, it became clear, in my view, that Owens' contributions to the team were less than the problems he created. As a result of this opinion, I advocated his release, which I still advocate.

Explain to me why taking that position establishes a Dallas Cowboys fan as a "hater." Explain to me why it is so necessary to virtue to be "all in" where Owens is concerned.

Is anyone else missing the irony that TO is at least dividing a internet message board along polar extremes?
Does that give any of you a clue about the affect he may have on a locker room?

Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson divided this Messageboard as well.

I don't think the division of a Messageboard translates to a player's propensity to divide a lockerroom.

However, Terence Newman stated that players would go to Terrell Owens and ask him why he doesn't get the ball more than Jason Witten.

This comment by Terence Newman tells you that there was dangerous cliques like this being formed.

Jordan..listen...I am a huge T.O. fan from the door. I loved him in Philly and when nutz when he was brought here. I want him to be on the team too. But remember this is a team, and if this is becoming such an issue with him that he is dividing the locker room then it might be time to part ways. You nor I know what goes on behind closed doors.."but remember eldos quote "if it smells like a rat." everybody cant be wrong. Let it play out and stop playing yourself out. Youre not judge wapner or drew rosenhaus (or are you). We are dallas cowboys fans not the dallas T.O.s and as much as I want him here I want the team to succeed.

Nice post my man.

I feel about the same way as Coakley'sDad but see success as bringing in a real coach. If we bring in a real coach and his stipulation is that TO must go then I will wish TO well. He served us well...

However, I can't see the whole smells like a rat anology.. Perhaps I am blinded by the TO love... Guess that's possible... I just don't see it. The guy wants to win and rallys his teram to feel the same. If anyone saw the replay of the game vs the Eagles last night on NFLN mics were always near TO when he was on the sidelines and nothing but positivity came out of his mouth (in an effort to rally his team).

Obviously, I am of the opinion that Owens needs to go. But I will make this concession... if the Cowboys were to bring in a strong head coach, a guy with the owner's respect and a tough demeanor, a guy like Shanahan... if that were to happen, and if that coach were to want to attempt to make it work with Owens, I would not object, as a fan, to giving him that chance. Phillips' coaching style and Owens' personality, in my opinion, are destructive when combined.

Where I differ with some folks is in the apparent view that Owens caused none -- or very few -- of his past problems. I don't think the entire NFL, its general managers, or the media that cover the games are out to "get" Owens. I think his problems have been largely self inflicted -- not entirely -- but certainly to a great extent.

I will touch on the part in bold.

There is another area of football you are overlooking; one that is quite important.

It's called public relations.

Other NFL coaches would gladly take on Owens. In addition to Mike Shanahan and Jack Del Rio rumored to be admirers of his, Nick Saban talked for a few minutes on how much he respects Owens when commenting on his "suicide attempt" in 2006.

Jon Gruden is also a big fan of his. As is Jim Haslett.

Some coaches buy into media portrayals more than others; some of them are smart enough to know that it doesn't work the way ESPN analysts say it does.

But to owners, reality isn't important. It's perception that matters. The team's public image. That's important to nearly all owners. Ultimately, the coach can't override an owner's objection.

Oh, and for what it's worth--Andy Reid always liked Owens.

Oh... oh... oh... can I answer?

PRO's:
  • w/ TO = double digit TD EVERY season with the Boys
  • w/ TO = over 1000 yards EVERY season with the Boys
  • w/ TO = 70-80 catches EVERY season with the Boys
CON's
  • w/o Witten not as effective
  • w/o Barber not as effective
  • w/o Romo not as effective
If some would only think before their agenda's and blind hatred.
(not targeted at OP... I think he is asking a genuine question)

Can we add in that Romo forces the ball to Owens more than any other receiver?

Just think: Had Jerry held TO to his original 3-year contract, and not extended him for no good reason, we'd finally be rid of him. Alas, we're stuck with the turd. Good going, GM.

Didn't JJ say on a radio show yesterday that he couldn't cut owens because of cap reasons? The GM trapped himself from the sounds of it. Not too smart.
