To simply reach a Super Bowl is a huge accomplishment. Landry accomplished that task five times. He was also a key reason why the franchise's record of consecutive winning seasons may never be touched again in NFL history. No disrespect to Johnson, but his accomplishments pale in comparison to Landry's.

This IS a generational thang.

Jimmy was greatness, but his time was only five years... basically, he was a merc...

Tom Landry was one of the builders of the greatest football franchise ever created... he gave the team 30 years of his life... the Cowboys WERE his life, for a long time there...

You don't know if it'll fly unless you take a shot... but for sure, it'll never fly if we let you cynics sway us...

If you don't like the idea, don't take part in it, but is it REALLY necessary to p*ss on our parade??
"P*ss"?

Funny. In my mind's eye, I was wading through waist-high you know what...

Hardly generational, I was around for Tom Landry, both the good AND the atrociously bad in the end.

I just don't live in the past.

I guess you'd rather see the Ring of Honor done away with too, right??

Honoring your history is hardly "living in the past"... and again, if you don't want to play, go on home, but it's rather tiresome, having you sitting on the sidelines slinging insults...

Sorry Silver, if you put an idea out in public, be ready for criticism.

Say for instance I started a thread about Bledsoe being a hall of famer and wanted to start a petition to get the ball rolling. Doest thou not think there would be many "pissing on that parade"?

You don't have to live in the past to respect or remember it.

The Ring of Honour is fine, no need to go beyond it.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Yours represents the minority view, imo. And a small one at that. Fair enough.

That is what the Ring of Honour is for, no need to name a stadium after him. Was he more important than Tex Schramm?

That's certainly debatable, but let's not sway away from your assertion. After all, if naming the stadium 'deifies' an individual, why mention Schramm???

That is an irrelevant point. In my view, we don't need to name the stadium after anyone.
Well, if that's your point, why try to qualify it by saying that naming the stadium after Landry would deify him? It wouldn't. Naming stadiums, monuments, ships, etc., is an ancient practice. Why is "Tom Landry Stadium" suddenly an exception? Just asking.

You know... now that you mention it... who really DOES care about Commander fans?

Good point.

Sorry, that's an inconsistent stance-- if putting Tom Landry's name on the new stadium is "living in the past", then so is the Ring of Honor...

So now, we know that you're just playing the contrarian... all that's left is for you to figure out that your opinion is no longer needed, or welcome, in this thread...

Like I said, if you don't wanna take part, that's fine... but kindly stop trying to tell us what we shouldn't do, because frankly, I don't CARE what you think... you are cordially invited to butt the F out...

In your opinion... which you've now expressed at some length...

And we plan on continuing our little mission; do you plan on snarling about it for much longer??

Unfortunately for you, none of us involved in this thread CARES about your view... in fact, you're rapidly becoming quite annoying...
