Tony Curtis And Deion Anderson Need To Be Benched Or Cut..

I was just watching the replay of the Cards and Cowboys. I noticed that Curtis and Anderson blown their assignments which not only cost us the game but our QB and punter.

As they go in slow-mo, on the punt block, it was Curtis' responsiblity to take the inside guy but he took the outside guy. It's the basic thing that you learn in special teams, take the inside guy.

As for Anderson, he was the one that missed his assignment/block on the play which Romo got sack'd and broke his finger.

On both Andersons' and Curtis' bone-head plays were plays that you learn in football 101 or Pee-Wee football.

JMO, but their play has not been good and should be benched until they get better or just flat out cut them.

If you can't do your job then get somebody who can.

Guy's make mistakes. The great thing about making mistakes is that you learn from them. I rather they learn from them the 6th week of the season than in the post season. Two young guys who made a mistake. They deserve the chance to F up. If it becomes a trend than you may want to look elsewhere for a 2nd or 3rd string TE and a fullback.

Did Anderson completely forget he was suppose to block, or did he just barely touch the guy who hurt Romo? I have not seen the replay yet but I heard several people say the same thing. :bang2:

The one that got to me was the Curtis play because he just cleanly let the guy go. Hopefully McBriar broke his other foot kicking his..

puh-lease.

both are far better contributors than most teams have in those roles (FB in a FB-lite offense, 3rd TE).

They have one job to do and if they can't get it done, get somebody else.

This is the NFL not college! No disrespect!

Why not have Martellius Bennett out there? Why wasn't Barber out there? These are questions that I ask?

He didn't seem sure who he needed to block and when he figured it out it was too late.

This is the Cowboys we are talking about! Our Special Teams are not so special right now and we can ill afford mistakes like Curtis did.

I really hope Curtis apologizes to McBriar for ending his season. In fact, I suppose it is quite possible that his career might be jeopardy. Breaking your kicking foot can't be good for a punter. Thanks a lot Curtis!:(

The stats suggest that our run game is actually less effective with Anderson in. I don't know it that's the truth or not, but that's the way it looks.

I agree with you! I don't think it will be career threatening. I believe he didn't have ligament damage.

I think you maybe right. Rather see Barber back there himself or with Witten leading the way.

sure, but that is likely b/c he is in on short yardage packages

He has been out there on other packages.

sure, but if a large % of his snaps are in short yardage situations then it is very likely that a lower yardage average when he's on the field reflects the packages that he is in. He's getting most of the snaps in short yardage - if he gets say 5 short yardage snaps and 15 regular snaps during the game, that will drive down the averages for performance when he's on the field. Difficult to get any take on whether we are better or worse without him on the field b/c the packages that he's in lend themselves to less productivity

i dont know if the play that your talking about when anderson was helping flozell pass block on a cardinal defender, was the play that romo got hurt, but yes, anderson missed his assignment.

in fact, anderson blocked flozell and not the cardinal player, in drills your taught, one person takes one side, either inside or outside and the other blocker on pass protection takes the other side

but anderson ran into flozell blocking him instead, im not making excuses for anderson, but could be that his knee is still bothering him, and like anderson said, the cowboys want him to wear a knee brace, and the brace is limiting him in motion,

now on the punt block, i heard that curtis blew the block, so did rogers, and on the other side, bobby carpenter turned his guy loose too,

that to me is sorry special teams, to me, when a head coach has to have 3 to 4 other coaches help out on special teams, then the special teams coach isnt doing his job

and its like i heard at the end of the year, just like in the cowboys giants playoff game. That some of the cowboy players arent buying into read's special teams program. Now, to me, when that happens you have a problem, and the head coach should be aware of that. That goes back to head coach wade phillips too.

And when keith davis and anderson says, the players have to want to, and they have to buy into the system blocking scheme that read is running and they dont, again something is wrong.

anderson said sometimes players in the heat of the battle go another direction on special teams, either not buying into the system that the coaches are teaching on special teams, or not do their assignments, then again, something is wrong,

sure the players have to play, due their assignments, but i remember when alvanzo, cant spell his name but coach joe on special teams that coached for jimmy johnson, the players feared him and he was very emotional, fiery, etc, i dont see read that way, and that maybe part of the problem,

its sure a big problem, and i think, since this might be wade phillllips last year anyway, one way or the other, that the new head coach will want another special teams coach. You cant be a buddy buddy like wade philips is to the players and the coaches, if the players arent buying into read's blocking scheme, then they never will. That also shows wade phillips lack of direction, determination, and being the true head coach the cowboys need, when a special teams coach isnt getting the players to play right, then they never will for that coach, so something has to be done.

Now the cowboys have about 5 coaches coaching on special teams, name me another NFL team that has 4-6 coaches coaching on special teams.

It was. no disrespect. It was a backside pursuit that Anderson missed. Romo was sacked from the backside.
