Put him in a body cast and let him heal. Top 3 pick should net a new QB. Need to groom a replacement before the Campo years return.

The Campo years are sure to return if the Cowboys reach for a QB especially with a top 5 pick and they don't pan out. I don't follow college football that closely but have heard the QB class this year doesn't look that great. I doubt Jerry would pull the trigger on a QB in the top 5 or top 10 if that's where the Cowboys end up because the team has problems deeper than at QB. This is not a good football team even with Romo. I would take my chances in the second round on a QB but the Cowboys need their top pick on the field not carrying a clipboard on the sidelines for what could be at least a couple of seasons.

CBS Sports website, has the best rankings. Already looked, 3 QBs rated in top 19 players overall.
2 more in the 2nd round. Then a big drop off IMO. 1 with a 2-3 round grade. That is Cardale Jones from Ohio State.
They need one of then1st round guys. Or one in the 2nd round at least if Elliot is there in the first for a RB.

Cardale Jones?? Does he actually throw a football?

Now the Cassel show again. There won't be any Moore. They will kid themselves like we are still in it and can win it at 8-8 now. What an epic disaster! Bring in Payton and let him keep Marinelli and lets roll!

8 and 8 can win it. We just can't go 8-8. We'll go 5-11 at best

I dunno man. I look at teams like the Packers who had virtually no drop off after Favre left. They had Rodgers on the pine for a few years. I also look at the Pats, who already drafted Brady's replacement high and he's riding the pine.

This is destined to fail because Romo is too fragile. I don't see how he makes it through a 16 game season ever again.

You don't get to be that picky. And where are all these great second-round quarterbacks?

You don't get picky? Teams that "don't get picky" and just draft based on position instead of quality are consistently losers.

You also don't reach for an average player just based on position. Especially considering you have your starter for two years.

Actually he does throw. He showed that last year in the 3 games he played, and the end of a 4th game against Michigan. And he did it pretty well.
This year, with a new OC, the Buckeyes offense struggled. Was not surprised they were beat last week. None of the QBs have been throwing like last year. Play calling is horrendous. Elliot not even getting his number called upon to run like they should.

Anyway, Jones has a very strong arm. And being a Buckeyes fan, I still prefer they not draft him. He has many other things to learn.
They need to draft one of the QBs in the first round, or one of the 2nd round QBs. I think Jones is a 3rd or 4th round IMO. thought as of today they have him a 2 or 3

Neither Rodgers or Garoppolo were top 10 picks and you're talking about selecting a QB in the top 3. Rodgers was taken well into the first round and Garoppolo in the second round. Both the Packers and NE were much better teams than what the Cowboys have this year when they selected those QBs. This is a pretty bad Cowboys team they've played 2 good teams this season and were blown out in both games and they've lost to some bad teams.

They're a mess right now and I just can't see the organization pulling the trigger on a QB in the top 5 or 10 with all the needs the team has. They can't afford to have their top pick standing on the sidelines until Romo is done but they do need to seriously consider selecting a QB in the second round to improve their chances of coming up with at least a solid backup who may someday develop into a quality starting QB.

If you have a top pick and you can get one of the top two qbs, you grab one. Otherwise, you go bpa and then get a holdover qb in another round. For example, if Treyvonne Boykin drops to the 3rd, you get him while maybe getting the best defensive player in the first.

Most second-round quarterbacks are either first rounders who slide or reaches. Reaching for a quarterback doesn't stop in the first round. That's why the second-round tends to be a QB wasteland.
