Read a tweet from a doctor commenting on Romo's clavicle- said it really takes six months for it to be "as strong as the other one" after a fracture.

Really, after seven straight losses, Dallas should have shut down Romo. Now 2016 is in jeopardy if he doesn't heal properly......or ever.:banghead:

His shoulder will be healed in plenty of time for 2016.

The issue is his general propensity to get injured at this point.

Our choices next year look like wounded Romo, Manziel (maybe), Griffin, or draft pick. Or some placeholder like Colt McCoy.

The clavicle injuries came five years apart. The back issue seems to have been much less of a problem in his brief body of work this year. I see two-three more years of Romo.

But it's time to grab a Plan B in the draft.

Hello, Mr Jones!*

* I'm kidding you, but this mindset must change. He's no longer dependable.

If he was having concussions issues I'd want him to retire. But this seems like the thing he can come back from next year and be healthy again.

I know, I know, he's brittle and he'll probably injure something new next year. But a healthy Romo still is this team's best option. Not to mention I'd hate for this to be the way his career in Dallas ends

Obviously there is a ton more info to digest now than when the thread was created ...

With that in mind, it's alarming how brittle his body has or is becoming. It's not like this is a career-threatening injury, but it'll be interesting to see if Tony sees the writing on the wall.

He can hardly take a hit without breaking a collarbone, rib, backbone, or puncturing a lung.

Well, it's safe to say he came back too soon from the collarbone. More alarming to me is this "best offensive line in football" was giving Romo Phil Costa and Kyle Kosier flashbacks.

You know Romo is going to be 36 next season right?

I hope he lasts another 2-3 years... but it's just hope. They need to draft. Plan A.

Figures the year we finally look like we'll have a top 5 pick there's not at single QB worthy of it

If the Cowboys get a top 5 pick and there is a QB worth taking you must take him...If he sits behind Romo for a bit that's fine, but we must capitolize on having a rare top draft pick.

Yes, I do realize that. I also know that Romo's cap hit means he's going to be here even if his skills begin to erode. I just hope it's not as ugly as what Peyton Manning is going through now in Denver.

Exactly. Connor Cook, Christian Hackenberg, and Cody Kessler aren't franchise quarterbacks to me.

Don't worry. Johnny Manziel will be available for us.

Maybe. Cleveland's been saying that they never discussed cutting him. Teams aren't as eager to just drop talented quarterbacks, no matter what journalists like to speculate.

No ****. It'll be another 20 years before a SB. The packers, giants, patriots, amd steelers will have more by then..NO, I cant.predict the future, bu those scenarios aren't that far off with Jerry in charge.

If you want to know how I feel about T-Ro...look at my ID here. But let's move past the denial.

-Few quarterbacks are any good at all past 35. Tony will be 36 starting next season.
-Add in a seriously messed up back!?
-Repeat fractures?

I'd say the odds are 5-1 against Romo ever again looking like he did in his peak.

Not many years left I'm afraid. Oddly enough it's the Aikman situation playing out all over again and should have been avoided if Jerry would have actually paid more attention to starting to groom an eventual replacement.

Jared Goff anyone?

Tony Romo has missed games three different times with three different injuries going back the last game of 2013 where Orton failed to get the win and put the Cowboys into the playoffs.

He missed 9 full games in total during that stretch and has been knocked out of 2 others over that span of time where they also lost.

That's 40% of the Cowboy's games over going back to the last game of 2013 where he wasn't on the field.

When you add the two games he played where his various back injuries really contributed to losses -- the 49ers and the 1st Eagles game last season you reach nearly 50% of the Cowboy's last 27 games where Romo's injuries have contributed to losses.

50% is statistically significant.

The questions is whether the Front Office is being anything but hopeful to expect any more participation than that from Romo going forward.

Awesome post...nailed it. And no, up until tonight the F.O. has done nothing to plan for his successor.
