Tony Romo, Wed night and Premature Emasculation

This is by far the worst thread I have seen on this forum this year. It's like you know Romo is going to mess up and you are making premature excuses for when he messes up and everyone is pissed.

Romo is not going to mess up. He is going to go in there and lead us to victory. Screw the Giants...we are now the better team. They are hurting all over the place right now. Secondary is using backups, their top WR is banged up and will have Carr on him, Cruz will have Scandrick blanketing him all night, etc. This is a new team, everyone is very motivated right now and will not be missing tackles, dropping interceptions etc.

The one advantage which is yet to even be seen is they have a strong defensive line and our offensive line is sketchy to say the least. We can overcome that though. They have a lot more holes in their game right now.

:laugh2:

I just specifically talked about some situations where it's partially Romo's fault...and some situations where it would be all Romo's fault.

So clearly...it's you who have the agenda...and one borne of anger, fixation, blame and failure to understand the sport.

The funny thing is that I think he's a very good quarterback. I think he's 6 or 7. I just realize that's not good enough to be a consistent serious championship competitor. Other fans talk glowingly of him being in the top 10 and how that makes him impossible to criticize or replace. I probably rate him better than a decent number of them. I just realize that that might be a little short of what we need to get where we want to go.

Tony's problem isn't throwing interceptions. It's somehow going 16-19 in the first half at the Meadowlands last year without putting up any points. It's having the highest completion but second-lowest attempt rate at deep passes last year. If anything he throws too few interceptions because he doesn't take enough risks downfield.

We are now making excuses for Romo BEFORE the game is played?? If he isn't getting protection he should be throwing quick slant passes, screens, etc.

Ridiculous thread IMO because Romos play needs no excuses period. Every QB has multiple INT games throughout the year and Romo is no different. He actually had less than most last year for sure.

He is a top 5 QB and anyone who wants to argue that only has the fact that he has not won a superbowl to argue against that.

Those are shortsighted and irrational fans and they really don't have a clue!

But that's the thing, though. Haven't we all seen this movie before? Don't we all know, down deep in our heart, that no matter how good of a year he's had, no matter how high his qb rating is, no matter what kind of pasting he just gave the Tampa Bay Bucaneers or the Buffalo Bills, that Tony is going to go into a big divisional game and not get it done?

I don't find this thread the worst. I find it darkly humorous.

I'll be rooting for him. I hope this is the year when things change. But until then ....

And by the way, If shots of navacaine in the ribs before the game and at halftime and broken ribs are not an excuse people will buy for throwing interceptions, what makes anyone think that poor line play will be accepted as an excuse?

I'm still trying to get over last years opening season loss to the Jets where Romo personally gave the game away even though the offensive line played great.
The Giants are going down this year and Romo isn't going to be a bonehead like last year.
Really, he missed an assignment on the punt team? Guess I missed him on the field for that.

My precious wrasslin' fan, you must mean bone head as in broken bones during the season and still playing - at times willing his team to victory. If not, maybe stick to wrasslin' as football may be too much for you to comprehend.

That's the funny part, people don't want to or can't understand that quarterbacks throw interceptions. The problem with the team last year had nothing - nothing, to do with Tony Romo. In fact he was the reason we won 8 games and had chances to win more. The reason we lost 8 games was our defense. Case in point, week 1 - Mark Sanchez passed for 335 yards.

In case anybod missed it, Mark Sanchez... 335 yards.

But from what I've seen this off-season, it's become chic to defend Romo for some reason. I don't know when that started, but it did.

Probably began last season after his performance in the San Francisco game. Not many of us could have played at our peak with broken ribs.

Romo is going to have 2 stinkers a year. It happens with every QB.

I just hope none of them are as bad as that Lion's game last year.

Yes, we all know the truth deep down but we are hoping for change. I will be rooting hard for him to lead his team into victory tomorrow night. It would be nice to start the season off 1-0, get a divisional win, and beat the defending superbowl champs. That would be HUGE for our team.

Uhhh, no.

We lost the Jets game we had in the bag because Romo fumbled when we would have came away with at least a field goal go up by 10 and greatly reduce the odds the Jets had at winning. It was a stupid play and he should have known better.

We lost the Lions game again, due to Romo.

The defense wasn't good last year, but at the very least I can deal with lack of talent and competence over a QB who doesn't understand basic situational football.

After the Lions game, I thought Romo played fine, but we should have been 10-6 last year on those 2 games alone.

If Romo is so good like his blind supporters say he is, then he doesn't need excuses and certainly doesn't need pre-game excuses.

Yeah, the biggest come from behind win in Cowboys history after halftime. Please don't remind me.

Romo is that good and if it were not for people bringing up the Lions game i could just sit back, but....broken ribs and high on painkillers and Garrett is still throwing the ball with an over 20 point lead when in reality Kitna should have been starting the second half with the condition Romo was in - yes I feel the need to defend that kind of ridiculous blame!

Actually, it wasn't only because of that fumble.. he also threw an interception at a crucial time in the 4th quarter to Dez Bryant who was hurt and playing at 50%.. and was double covered. Yeah, that happened. But hey, that was in the past. Romo is going to sink the Giants tomorrow.

Romo tore it up the first half...throwing deep passes and all. His rib wasn't hurting him then. Please stop making excuses for him. Every QB in the league has a bad game. Just accept that this was one of his.

He took another shot of painkiller at halftime! Let me drug you up twice in the span of 2 hours and see if the second one makes a difference. Let me know when you are ready - where do you live?

After Romo's interceptions, the score was Cowboys 27 - Lions 17. The next series, Romo leads my team to a FG response and gives the defense a 30-17 lead to protect in the fourth quarter.

What game were you watching?

I personally don't like the smell of feces, so it confuses me to know that so many walk around with thier heads fully positioned into their rectum.

I like your style.

He who makes the last mistake is to blame.

Nevermind the in between. Whoever screws up last is at fault.
