Sounds like you haven’t been following football very long. You build around the QB. The model for every great team is to find a franchise QB and build around them. That’s exactly how the Cowboys built their great 90s teams by drafting Aikman with their first pick. As for the 49ers they already had a great team when they drafted Purdy. They went to the SB with Jimmy G. Their plan wasn’t to build a great team, then go find a QB. It just happened that way. They thought Jimmy G was the answer which is why they traded for him. The plan was to build around him but he flamed out.A tear starting with a QB is a disaster. Just look at the Niners for a future model.
If you start with a QB, by the time you get the team built around him, it will be time for a new contract at $60+M.
Build the team first, then get your cheap rookie QB/bus driver, which will give him time to grow develop. This gives you at least a 5 year window on a rookie contract.
Have to use the Purdy model. The Niners are proving it with Mr. Irrelevant.
