A tear starting with a QB is a disaster. Just look at the Niners for a future model.

If you start with a QB, by the time you get the team built around him, it will be time for a new contract at $60+M.

Build the team first, then get your cheap rookie QB/bus driver, which will give him time to grow develop. This gives you at least a 5 year window on a rookie contract.

Have to use the Purdy model. The Niners are proving it with Mr. Irrelevant.
Sounds like you haven’t been following football very long. You build around the QB. The model for every great team is to find a franchise QB and build around them. That’s exactly how the Cowboys built their great 90s teams by drafting Aikman with their first pick. As for the 49ers they already had a great team when they drafted Purdy. They went to the SB with Jimmy G. Their plan wasn’t to build a great team, then go find a QB. It just happened that way. They thought Jimmy G was the answer which is why they traded for him. The plan was to build around him but he flamed out.

How about we keep it simple and do a June first cut!!! Have to find a team that is willing to do a trade
The league is qb starved. We can trade him and do very well. The FO just needs to lay out his options and make trading him the best one.

If you are going to rebuild go all in. Trade Dak, CD and Micah. Keeping them with no QB is a complete waste.

Tank for 2 years get $100M below the cap. Trade back and accumulate draft picks. Build the trenches first. Then get your rookie QB contract, once you have a team in place.
Yeah its not a bad idea to stock pile draft picks and clear cap. This is what many of us are ready to do, unfortunately it will never happen.

We are not pre salary cap.

With the way QB's are now being paid that model will no longer work.

You must be in the camp that the QB wins SB's all by themselves.

A post June 1st trade would save 34
Dak will waive it if hes not wanted here and the situation is right for him

He would be stupid to stay here and be the loser that he is. He would be worshipped somewhere like Chicago
Exactly, it really is the best for all parties. He gets a fresh start with a team that has a superior running game and good defense,,, if he's smart about where he goes he'll have a better chance of success. Dallas gets out of the cap bind and renews its search for an elite QB that can handle carrying the offense. Dak honestly has a better chance of success than we do unless Jerry suddenly decides to seriously upgrade the OL/RB and DL/LBs.

For those of you waiting and hoping that we find and get the next Mahomes, you will be waiting another 30 years.

In the cap era you can just tear down a team and rebuild. There’s cap ramifications to cutting players. Teams continue building around a QB. Practically every bad team that has the number one overall pick takes a QB. The Ravens had a losing record the previous three seasons and selected Lamar Jackson and built around him. I’m in the camp that it takes a “team” with a viable QB to win a SB. The QB influences the outcome of games more than ever these days, which is why they’re so coveted and make the money they do, but you still need a complete team around them.

It’s a serious question. Skids were in a huge hurry to try and replace captain kirk and how’s that been going for them.
Cousins turned down a big contract offer from "them"
mostly because it was back-loaded. They wanted to
keep him though.

3 out of the last remaining teams in the playoffs are not over paying their QB. Only Mahomes has a big contract and Mahomes is going to have to carry his team on his back if they are going to make and win a SB.

That was said tongue in cheek,,, Dallas needs to balance things out on offense AND find a QB that doesn't fall apart under pressure.

they need to find alot of players who dont fall apart under pressure...the problem is I'm not sure the players have that issue until they have been here a couple years...28 years of players and coaches been falling apart under pressure like clockwork..HOF players SB winning coaches you name it.

How about starting with the Owner/GM who crumbled on a phone call with Niners over an emergency QB.
