My only criticism after this weekend is that we are incredibly deep at WR and D Line, while we have bottom-of-the-league caliber depth at TE and Safety. Still some free agent safeties out there that can help. Tight End could be a huge achilles heal this year.

I’m sorry but please clarify as I got to ask this because I see statements like this posted a lot. People saying we where high on someone. Garrett loved this person and Marinelli really like so and so.

Where do people get this from. No one in any organization will say I really like this person before the draft. No one is going to tip their hand. And no one ever says oh we didn’t get that guy but we really wanted him. Other then obviously great players which we can assume everybody loves and wants.

So the question is how do you know Marinelli was high on him? He wasn’t listed as a predraft visit and I don’t see where Marinelli attended his pro day. I’m just curious.

It was mentioned on the Draft Show after the trade.

I never really got where Switzer was considered automatically better than Beasley.

If he was so demonstrably better, he'd have worked his way into some games as anything but a high risk, low reward kick returner.

I'd bet the Dallas coaching staff had serious questions about his decision making ability and coachability.

Hell I have had serious questions and doubts about this coaching/front office staff for years!!

I was pretty high on Switzer, surprised to see him get dealt. I always figured he was going to be our next Cole Beasley.

I liked Switzer too, but it's a numbers game. Jerry is throwing every WR at Dak that he can to find out who will help him the most. Hurns and Gallop could possibly be our starters. We'll see if Beasley will beat out Austin and if Williams can find a role if he loses the split end gig to Gallop.

Supposedly Switzer was always at the star and working hard with Dak.

I don't question his work ethic. However, I did see him continually putting himself at risk on kick returns, and I'd wager he wasn't being encouraged to do that by the coaches, but he kept doing it anyway.

The coaches didn't seem to trust him in the passing game considering the kind of plays they ran with him, the few times they tried.

Not saying our coaches aren't wrong, heck, knowing them they probably are.

Like others have said, I am guessing that Switzer just wasn't getting it mentally. He made some big errors last year, and I guess the coaching staff didn't see enough correction.

2nd try after no one responded the first time

We are still going to have to cut at least one WR so at least we used one to fill a need. It's a good trade for us IMO. Beasley stays in the slot and Austin returns punts. What is Switzer doing for us?

I had a hard time believing it would be Beasley with Dez gone and Witten looking like he’s headed for retirement. Twill would have been the only returning starting receiver and he’s the most inconsistent. Dak needs a security blanket.
