We started rebuilding the Dline 4 years ago via draft. Look at the results. The young guys have been "playing". Guys like Crawford , Dlaw, Irving have been given plenty of time to develop. Guys like mayowa and Thornton are what they are.

To do nothing means that we betting on tapper and taco to be difference makers. How long do we wait to give them a chance to "develop" another 2-3 years?

That's a 7 year rebuild. Lol

I like what we have in Maliek Collins, Taco Charlton, and David Irving. I still have hope Randy Gregory figures things out. We just need to add a legit free agent (or through a trade) and maybe a Day 1 or 2 draft pick next year, and we should be good. I would move on from Lawrence (inconsistent) and Crawford (overpaid).

I know this probably wont be a popular thread, but please try to hear me out. Outside of the very young Secondary, most would agree that the DL is and has been our weakest position group since the days of Ware, Spencer, Ratliff, etc. Although I personally believe Dallas had accumulated a nice group of young players like Collins, Irving, Tapper, and Taco.. There is still concern due to the inexperience, suspensions, and ever growing list of injured players. I also think most fans opinion of our DL would change drastically if our Boy's had a Premier edge rusher coming off the right side. As much as I like Lawrence, he seems more suitable for the LDE position and would benefit if we had a 'DeMarcus Ware' player at the other end position. That said.. I wondered what our DL would look like had we pulled off a trade like the Cardinals did with the Patriots last year.
Last Year, the Cardinals received Chandler Jones via trade with the Patriots. The Pats received a second round pick and Jonathan Cooper. (Yes, Cooper..the guy thats presently on our team). The Pats went on to parlay that second round pick for Joe Tuney & Malcolm Mitchell. So, I suppose both teams benefitted depending on how you look at it. As far as Arizona is concerned, I believe they are perfectly happy how Chandler Jones performed: 49tkl, 11 sacks, 4 FF, and 3 PD.
My question I guess is.. Without touching the big three.. How would you feel if Dallas could trade Chaz Green or La'el Collins in order to shore up our DL with a Premier Pass rusher? I know we would take a hit with either of them off the team, But we have a mobile Qb and 3/5 of our line is All-Pro's..

Imagine our starting DL looking like this:
Lawrence-Collins-Irving-*Jones/etc

rotating in:
Tapper-Crawford-Paea-Taco/Mayowa

OK, let me have it:/

Who and for me it has to be an edge rusher not SDE or even another Tapper who I see as a WDE (maybe.....I need to see more). We don't have enough data to determine what we have at present.

A Ware or Miller type is good for me though. Just young and who gives up those players in their prime?

Tapper and Moore can rush the passer, but is that enough ?

I'm not really sure what player, honestly I was surprised that the Patriots traded Jones.. I'm not even sure if a player would be available.. this is strictly hypothetical. La'el would prob be the only option since he would have been a high first rounder had it not been for the legal matters the day of the draft. Chaz Green filled in admirably for Tyron last year and that shouldn't be overlooked.. of course his health issues also can't be overlooked. Although, Dallas benefited from Marc Colombo a few years back when the Bears tired of his injuries.
For me it would have to be a guy on a rookie a contract still who has shown he is capable playing at a very high level. However I dont know who is out there fitting that description we could trade for.

After resigning Collins, he is virtually untradeable. It would have to be Green and at this point he would be a throw in ala Cooper. It would take a premium pick. I would do a 2nd and Green for Danielle Hunter. I wouldn't do that trade for anything south of Hunter

No I like the guys we have. Give them a chance to play and you might have a double digit sack guy already on the roster.

Not sure why Green has become some great player all of a sudden. He is approaching legend status to some of you

I think that you would have to offer a 1st rounder to even start a conversation on Hunter and that's if the Vikings would even consider trading him away.

With his injury history, Green has no value to anyone.

I do wonder if they may think about trading Barr at some point. They have been using him mostly as a OLB and will probably have to pay him as a DE. Still has two years of contract control left

Yes, I would be willing to do a trade like that, but I doubt another team would do that, at least not with a premium pass rusher. There's a shortage of very high quality pass rushers, making it really hard to make a Charles Haley kind of deal. The best we could hope for is finding a rent-a-player in the twilight of his career who might give us a boost.

And I curse Greg Hardy once again .............. we thought we had the perfect solution.

Gonna take alot to get any legitimate young DE
It's gonna take drafting one, or Randy Gregory (#FreeRandyGregory) coming back,

The problem is, we're too good to draft low enough for a legit RE, and not quite good enough to be shoe-ins for SB's, which would negate any first round draft pick. You can bust on a first round pick, kinda, when you win the show, but next to that, we need to hit in the draft. We need a 4-3 RDE. The ******* unicorn, at this point, in the NFL. Harder to find than a top 15 QB or even LT, imo.

We're moving DLaw to RE. Lawdy lawdy lawdy

yep, the only excess players worth anything would be our TEs and WRs, assuming they stay healthy (knock).
rico would hurt a lot.
butler and twill r candidates if butler blows up
Any player in a trade would be a throw in. Any trade would be centered around draft capital

Well take some comfort in knowing Hunter was a 3rd round pick
