Yea, his drop in the Philly game that ended up in the hands of a defender really showed how dependable he is.

The guy has lost more than a step. I love him and everything he's given this franchise, but if you can get a 2nd rounder for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Plus, when he's off the field, we could be way more explosive because we could have more speed, and Romo wouldn't force passes into him all the time.

Having said that, I don't see any way it happens.

LOL! Yeah because one means he's not dependable. Sometimes people can be really stupid their comments on here.

Whats stupid is your inability to understand that as an example of the fact that he's not nearly as reliable as he once was. You'd have to be watching games half asleep not to realize that he's had a bunch of drops over the last two years and that if the ball doesn't hit him in the chest he has a whole lot of trouble making a catch.

LOL!!!!!....-_-

He's probably retiring in a year or so anyway. To me he's on that rung right below Tony G.

Let him retire a Cowboy.

I would personally like Jason Witten to retire as having only played for the Dallas Cowboys throughout his Hall-of-Fame career.

Imo you're not going to be explosive offensively with Witten getting that many looks, he just doesn't do much with the ball after he catches it.

7.8 isn't smoking but he still makes enough plays to get him to the HOF. But I get your point. He's not a hybrid TE who is going to avg >12 ypc.

Ya hes lost a step but he still gets open more than anybody on the team. Drops happen In the nfl quite a bit actually so im ok with that incident. Hes a sure hofer and one of the only players we can say that about for dallas in a long time. Hes never hurt and always plays.

He gets open because he is a smart player and the Cowboys don't have to many smart players.

Our opinions don't change a 111.1 rating on 109 passes.

Witten 61 of 93 716 yd 8 td 0 int 117.5
Williams 42 of 69 679 yd 5 td 2 int 105.9

I'd rather give Williams those looks, he had 37 less yards on 24 less looks.

Pass rating is the individual stat with the highest correlation to wins in the NFL. This is the entire list of TE with at least a 111.1 rating on 109 targets in 2013.

Olsen 111 tgt 114.7
Graham 130 tgt 112.8
Witten 109 tgt 111.1

I don't know how that is calculated so I can't comment on it. My eyes tell me Witten is more of a chain mover than an explosive playmaker. He needs to score more TDs and have a higher ypc for me to call him explosive. I've already made the comment he's good enough to make the HOF right now. That's says a lot to me.

It's not about the yards. If it were, Matthew Stafford would be a perennial All Pro.

3rd down pass rating
Witten 91.5
Williams 63.0

This I can fully get on board with. He moves the chains. He may well do more if we had more targets and he wasn't defended so closely.

If I could get a 2nd rounder for him then I would probably do it.

We aren't winning anytime soon. I'd love to keep him but he'll never see a title in Dallas so we might as well give him a chance somewhere else.

I don't know how that is calculated so I can't comment on it.
It's passer rating, with different nomenclature. Attempts become targets, completions become receptions.

From the QB's point of view: attempts, completions, yards, TD, INT
From the receiver's point of view: targets, receptions, yards, TD, INT

What's LeSean McCoys and Reggie Bush passer rating, I don't know but I would guess pretty high because the passes thrown to them are not down the field.

If someone offers a second you do it, no question. Anything less than that, it's a no. Witten is not explosive. He is the only player that we consistently get the ball to in open space. And he consistently does nothing with it other than look for a soft spot to land. We need to get dez and Dunbar the ball in open space consistently, not witten.

Seriously we ran a TE screen one time this year to witten. It was a 2 yard loss.

From the receiver's point of view: targets, receptions, yards, TD, INT

So we are looking at the same things: YPC, YAC, broken tackles, TDs, AYPC

Bush 76 tgt 96.7
McCoy 64 tgt 113.2

Nowhere close to Witten's 109 targets.
