Travis Frederick update?

You can look up the disease yourself and see there was another pro lineman that had it and gave his personal experience with it. And can make a pretty good educated guess. So you think he will return this year?
I don't think anything.

I already mentioned Schlereth - he caught the disease way later than TFred and we don't know how the difference in severity, so we don't really know how that experience relates at all.

I have spoken to extended family about this and I have siblings in the medical field that see this daily...AND YES..I read up on it. I admittedly knew nothing about it,but after much studying etc...I think its a safe bet that if he plays,it wont be this year...and if he does, he will be watched closely.
Ok fine, but 20 minutes ago you said he was never playing again.

I deal with autoimmune crap myslf..lupus. Its a bad deal. Me and my sister have it. Its very similar to what FredBeard has. Its very hard to detect with bloodwork...hard to diagnose...and yes I get flare ups that get set off by certain things like stress, sunlight…. It affects the nerve endings and the numbness,or dull feelings can last for weeks or just a couple days. Same kinda stuff he is dealing with. So I do have some extra insight of whats to come for him.

Nah..I read up and did some research on this horrific unpredictable disease. Try it maybe...it might help ya.

so you read that symptoms can vary? Length of the illness can vary? In Frederick case it was caught in early stages. Some suffer from paralysis, Frederick didn't. Some end up on ventilation machines, Frederick didn't. A very small percentage ever have problems once they fully recover. All I can go by are those directly involved which is Frederick and what his doctors tell him and what he shares with us. Or I can go by a message board poster who has no direct involvement

Which means that any claim he's never playing again is based on nothing. Anyone who says anything other than "I don't know" is full of it.

Excellent point. Relatively speaking the guy is still a young dude and I fully expect him to recover to the point that he eventually returns. This based on the info I have heard, but I really don't know. I'm just thinking positive like I did with Jaylon Smith based on much of the same.

And I have RA which is also an autoimmune but gives me no more in depth view of Frederick and his own situation.

I'm sorry for what you deal with, that sucks.

But this absolutely does not give you any insight on TFred's situation. Not even a fraction.

I recently read that he was slowly improving. When they didn't put him on IR at the beginning of the regular season, I thought they must have had intel that led them to believe he could/would return within 6 weeks. Now, I would be utterly shocked if he returns at any point this season. They're probably better off giving him the entire year to recuperate, regardless.
I don't think they really care about Fredrick. We do but the FO sees them as players not people. Use em up and spit em out. Win at all costs. If you can't help us you are gone.

How's that for a hard heart towards the FO. If you can't help the team, they will discard you like a piece of trash. That's why I can't complain when a player wants this crazy money. They may not get another chance. jmho

FO has put no pressure on Frederick and have stood behind players. Jones may be a lot of things but he has shown great loyalty to players who have played for this organization.

my concern is him rushing back too soon. Also, what condition will he be in to take that beating. Nerves are a funny thing when they aint firing right. Don't want to see the young man hurt himself further. Dealing with an autoimmune thing(lupus) myself, I know for a fact that its nothing to mess with and its to be taken day to day. Its foolish to count on him at all at this point. Most doctors can tell you that they are doing studies on lupus and what Fred has because they do not fully understand what factors go into it and cause it...very hard to diagnose ANY autoimmune disease really. Its really up to the individual affected to see what scope they can function physically day to day. I do know the meds for thenerve pain/dullness etc makes you sleepy...and so I fully get it, as to why he just cannot get onto the field. Its a multitude of factors. Its not simple.

Is it simply a sensation or does it actually affect his nerves where he loses control and strength from it?
