Trey Lance trade is one of the worst moves Jerry has ever done

There was no reason to make this trade? There was 60M reasons to make this trade.
I can see the Dak Fanatics have their feelings hurt, I mean how small minded is this?
It's an opportunity to develop a young talent, he's a better athlete than Dak, has better feet and a better arm for a 4th rd pick.

Dak will want 60M a year soon, options are needed.

There are not really options. Trey Lance will not see a meaningful snap in the next 2 years, and then will walk. Now maybe for 2025 they make a gamble to go with the cheap guy who hasn’t played meaningful football snaps since 2019 but that is a terrible bet.

Betting on a guy whose NFL career is 2 starts, finishing 1, who lost out to Sam Darnold and had one good college season in 2019 is just a crazy bet. You make that bet if the roster is bad because it’s likely to look bad.

But he is not developing into anything for the Cowboys. He is not going to play this year. He is not going to play next year. Then he is a free agent. Even if he develops into an average starter in that time he is going to be doing it elsewhere.

In blowouts Dallas will allow him to get mop up duty and he will play in preseason next year. If Dallas can get him to show improvement you can absolutely trade him for a higher pick than a fourth. Even if Dallas lets him play out the contract, by showing something in preseason next year, Dallas would get a comp pick at the worst..... Most likely higher than a 4th rounder.

If he fails, you move on and lose a 4th rounder. Not a big deal with the chance of a young QB with his upside

As a backup in high school, college and NFL. Everytime the starter went down and Dak came in, he played so well the starter didn't get his job back.

This is essentially the late round pick to get the 'qb of the future' that so many wanted us to do. Some people were angry that we didn't get O' Connell but he just got outplayed by Grier, so I don't see what the rueing is about that we burnt a 4th on Trey Lance...

If you can pull anything out of Trey Lance, you can potentially get a backup Qb, a pick higher than a 4th rounder or even a potential starter qb of the future. It's a risk worth taking for a 4th rounder. If he doesn't pan out, he's a lost 4th rounder amid the countless other 4th rounders that we didn't get much from.

We are here man and honestly they are just a really loud minority, they come in 5 man waves its kinda funny because you can actually hear them barechest bumping when they think the "Dak Zinger" they typed is really good. I forgot that Brees was a Charger at one point. He ended up being fantastic with the Saints. I think most QBs require a system that works well for them, and perhaps Shanahan's system wasn't a good fit for Lance. Plus, McCarthy has a good history when it comes to developing a QB.

Shula’s system wasn’t a good fit for Aikman and then Jimmy hired Norv and the rest is history. As a side note when Aikman struggled his first couple seasons Jimmy wasn’t 100% sold on him and used the #1 overall pick to get Steve Walsh.

I feel people are acting like we sold the farm for Trey. It’s just a 4th rounder, not a big deal if it doesn’t work out. I feel this will make Dak a better QB or we got a possible replacement if he flames out.

I would have hated to see this board when Jimmy used the #1 overall pick for Walsh. That was a bad move. Trading 2 #1’s for Joey Galloway was a bad move. Trading a 1 for WR Roy Williams was a bad move. This is a good move.

I feel if we traded for any other position besides QB then this wouldn’t even be a debate. If we got a #3 overall pick on a rookie contract for a fourth at any position there wouldn’t be 6 or 7 threads about it. If Dak is the QB people believe he is then this move will not affect him at all.
