just occurred to me, Lance could’ve very well been cut.

There is a strange dynamic at play here. A lot of the guys that I typically agree with on here at the QB position are on the opposite side on this from me… and guys that I usually never agree with on at QB are throwing me likes like skittles.

It feels like the twilight zone instead of Cowboyszone.

I can’t quite figure out why people’s opinions on this are what they are. I feel like I may have had a neurological event, and just don’t know it.

Ooh crash you have Bro's you probably just hurt their feelings with that...lol
lol, naw they tolerate me since I'm a "hater". shrugs. I see no downside to taking a raw guy with potential. He's not taking dak's job, not even Rush's job, he's a project. The moaning and complaining about a 4th round pick is crazy. Jerry wastes 2nd round picks and nothing is said. Trey is probably not going to help the team anytime, maybe never, but old crazy Jerry is trying.
If you look and notice, it's the dak over the team fans who are having meltdowns about a no-non-factor pickup.

I agree but i actually do think Lance will get to QB2 and pretty quick, if his head is ok then in 2 years you may have a great 25-26 year old QB to push a 33 year old QB and thats a good thing for any team.

What helps Rush is his mind. His arm is nothing to write home about but he's credited as one of the smarter QBs in the league. I don't know anything about Trey but hope he develops. If so, it's a great pickup for the team.

I read his scouting report and he's raw with talent

Best to let Cooper work with Lance than Dak....unless Lance's goal is to sell mattresses.

after last night this comment make so much sense...... who would want Dak explaining how an offense should run? Stick to the 2 INT's in the playoff game, i dont like feeling sorry for you.

Trey Lance: 23
Will Grier: 28

This is one of the bigger factors IMO.

In Grier you get a guy that can be a backup through Dak's remaining seasons.
In Lance, you potentially get a guy that can take over for Dak and give Dallas 4-6 seasons as a starter (potentially)

Did I want Grier cut? NOPE.

But it's a logical move. It's a business and this was a business decision.

In blowouts Dallas will allow him to get mop up duty and he will play in preseason next year. If Dallas can get him to show improvement you can absolutely trade him for a higher pick than a fourth. Even if Dallas lets him play out the contract, by showing something in preseason next year, Dallas would get a comp pick at the worst..... Most likely higher than a 4th rounder.

If he fails, you move on and lose a 4th rounder. Not a big deal with the chance of a young QB with his upside
In the entire NFL last year, how many games were blowouts such that the backup played any real time? Furthermore, in those games how many passes did they actually throw?

I would probably wager it’s less than 5 in almost all cases because if you have that kind of lead you are going to want to keep the clock running and avoid turnovers so you will run the ball.

So again he will have taken his last year of college off, been a gadget player as a rookie, started 2 games as a sophomore (finishing only 1), then getting no meaningful snaps the next 2 years. That is basically 5 years with almost no meaningful snaps to show for it. Betting on that is insanity and is why mo one was offering more than a 5th/6th.

this a 28 year old 3rd QB makes no sense unless your starter is a young one learning from 2 vets.

Apparently some don’t get tired about crying about the QB position no matter what side of the fence they’re on. Looking forward to Tuesday. Cuts should bring some new topics. I agree there are plenty of other things to discuss like Smith and Schoonmaker!
There will be some at least one or two adds and one or two additional cuts to make up for those adds. Hopefully those additional cuts will make to the Practice Squad.

In the NFL, Romo was never coming back. Everybody including Dak knew it. Since his first season he's never had competition brought in.. and no, i never followed his high school competition level, lol
Nobody knew if Romo was or wasn't coming back. Throughout that season it was Romo is coming back and it's his team. At the end of the season folks thought he would sign with the Texans or some other team..... So no, it was not given if Romo wasn't coming back

I don't know what the 49ers were thinking. He didn't throw any picks because if the first read wasn't wide open, he took off. That was clear for anyone to see.
Great arm. That's the only reason he was drafted that high.

I hope Lance works out and becomes as good as to where he was drafted. Not thrilled with the timing right before the season opener and not telling MM about it. Another bonehead move by Jerry.
Not including your HC in the decision is really puzzling. As for the timing, I don't have an issue with that. I doubt Lance was on the trade block until recently. Sometimes you have to take the chance when the opportunity arises. Could be MM voiced disapproval of Grier early in preseason and Jones took it from there.

And that’s say a lot. There was absolutely no reason to make this trade at this time in the year for another QB. He’s probably not going to play at all this season. All it does is create QB controversy with the haters who actually believe that he’s better than Dak. And what’s worse, MM had no idea about the trade until it was already done. Dumb move by the ownership. Just horrible timing right before the season opener.
We want a qb controversy- Dak is a BS artist and a fraud vs the big boys .

Man up
