Trey Lance trade is one of the worst moves Jerry has ever done

Now would you give me next week's winning Powerball numbers?
I am going to ask you this in all honesty: do you think there is a single chance, barring injury, he sees ANY meaningful snaps this year? Do you really think a guy who could not beat out Sam Darnold has any chance of playing meaningful snaps this year?

This year? Probably not, sans the occasional trick play.

He's here to develop, and possibly win the backup role next season.

Don't put me on the short bus yet, I was simply looking for a bright side to this move.
It's a good move, with no downside, unless there happens to be a great 4th rounder in next year's draft who would have fallen to us.

And that’s say a lot. There was absolutely no reason to make this trade at this time in the year for another QB. He’s probably not going to play at all this season. All it does is create QB controversy with the haters who actually believe that he’s better than Dak. And what’s worse, MM had no idea about the trade until it was already done. Dumb move by the ownership. Just horrible timing right before the season opener.
If this trade causes a “QB controversy”, then they had better do all they can to find Dak’s replacement ASAP.

You are stating this based on what precedence? Dak Prescott has never had to face any threat to his existence in Dallas. In fact the Owner and GM has gone out of his way to coddle him. His entire time in Dallas has been about ensuring that he has never ever felt threatened about his role as a starting QB. So when claims are tossed out that "it should bring out the best in Dak" - there is no proof it will. More importantly he has a fairly proven track record of playing worse when the pressure gets ratcheted up.
I based it on hope. I always hope for the best.

Well said! When the pressure is up, he plays like he was taken off the streets, put in a uniform and told to play quarterback. It's ugly!

So far we've only seen him face pressure from the opposition. You may be right that pressure from competition might be good for him. I don't know if Trey Lance is the one to apply that pressure, but I hope so.

Where? The dialog you have with the 5 guys in your head isn't a QB controversy. And what does it say about your vaunted starting QB that his very existence is threatened by a dude who hasn't played a single snap under center with a star on his helmet?
SAS has already started it. Look at all the yahoos here already calling for Lance to replace Dak. And it’s only just begun.

The only controversy between Dak and Lance is in media, including here. It doesn't exist in the Cowboys locker room, and won't affect the 2023 season at all.

Besides, if it wasn't this it'd be something else in the media. They never stop talking about the Cowboys.

I know that but the media is not going to stop talking about it and the yahoos here will parrot everything they say. It’s going to be a huge distraction.

Last year we had folks who wanted Rush to take over. It is what it is, but it's not a distraction for the team. They know Dak is QB1 if healthy.

sad but funny. You can't make this crap up. A project is sending chills down the homers back. OH my, too funny.

daks feelings might get hurt. I'd hate for trey to come in a drive the bus and be carried by the team like we hope dak can be.

It would help you if you stopped caring so much about that the "haters" think. There is no QB controversy in Dallas. There might be in the mind of some fans but it's inconsequential.
