Last year we had folks who wanted Rush to take over. It is what it is, but it's not a distraction for the team. They know Dak is QB1 if healthy.
Don’t forget MM, the coaches were left in the dark. There will be articles soon about this as well. Probably already are.

And that’s say a lot. There was absolutely no reason to make this trade at this time in the year for another QB. He’s probably not going to play at all this season. All it does is create QB controversy with the haters who actually believe that he’s better than Dak. And what’s worse, MM had no idea about the trade until it was already done. Dumb move by the ownership. Just horrible timing right before the season opener.
:muttley: This is only the beginning of your upcoming Dak agony moments.
The only advice I can give you is to stock up enough of your favorite alcoholic beverage as trust me you will need every ounce of it!
Here you go bud just to keep things in the proper perspective here.....

I don't know if he's better than Dak, but it'd be hard for him not to be.

Dak balled out from day 1. Lance hasn’t. Couldn’t even beat out Darnold for the backup spot. Hopefully MM can school him up. Some QB’s take several years to develop. Well, not really.
Dak couldnt beat out 2nd string Kellen Moore either in 2016, only when both got injured was he able to show what he could do.

Could Trey do the same? Not sure but thought the comparison was close

SAS is your God. you bow before him. he is your master and he controls you.

well, that goes to show you how stupid those coaches were that couldn't recognize the talent he had over Moore.
and Once Dak got on the field, Romo retired. Moore retired and went into coaching.

Trey has to get really good at holding the clip board and try hard to beat Rush first.

Only problem is, he may not be talented. Slow processing info. One of the biggest QB killers there is.

That I agree with. Whatever I’ve read, it seems people are enamored with his deep ball, but he’s supposedly a mess in the short time intermediate game, with questionable decision-making. Whatever tape I looked at, most of them were first read throws. Nobody can say anything about Trey, because the tape is limited and he hasn’t even played in 2 years because of injury. If it’s been that long, no way his decision-making without any real-world experience would have improved.

Dak already does that, plus he has 8 years of experience. Trey is not going to be better and if he is, Dak is finished and done with.

As I said in another post, I hope this is more of a contract negotiation move. It may mean they aren’t going to extend Dak this season and let him play it out, while seeing what they have with Trey. If they truly believe he’s a potential talent and they may try and extend him before exercising before the fifth option for cheaper, then what else can it mean that right now than they are starting to look elsewhere than Dak.

Let's not act like Lance hasn't played in real NFL games and won.

Reports from some that watched the 49ers training camp said Lance outplayed Darnold.

When it comes to Lance the front office and coaches had drama. Some for him and others against which caused issues. You can't have internal drama like that, it can derail the team and split the locker room.

I don’t think this “outplay” is an established fact, though I see where you are coming from. Some argue he has, but they also say Darnold has basically been consistent, though average. Lance on the other hand, has not. So it seems like Kyle Shanahan wants the consistency and experience.

But that is better news if you are looking for a young QB.

I guess if Purdy didn’t shine, Trey would still be there.

Someone is holding his favorite blanket a little closer now that there's another baby in the crib.
I’ve got to admit that he looked and sounded shaken by it……..a truly confident quarterback would have been all smiles knowing that this shouldn’t affect him.

Hes really quite fragile which explains why there’s NEVER a quarterback brought here with starting ability.

A truly confident quarterback would have realized the competition is mere relegated to Cooper Rush and Trey Trey for the leftover crumbs.

"I think it's great for Dallas to add talent to the roster at every position, including QB. Lance has a lot of talent and I welcome the chance to work with him so that we can learn things from one another." That would have been a quality reply as opposed to the one Dak gave but his reply is insightful.

Dak's reply reminds me of the loss to SF in the playoffs in 2021 when fans threw things at the refs and Dak, after the game, in essence, celebrated that behavior because he felt slighted by the refs....now he feels slighted and his insecure, petulant side showed itself.

This season Dak will either play his best football and earn an extension or he will fold under the pressure and then JJ & Co. have a major decision to make.
