I’ve got to admit that he looked and sounded shaken by it……..a truly confident quarterback would have been all smiles knowing that this shouldn’t affect him.

Hes really quite fragile which explains why there’s NEVER a quarterback brought here with starting ability.

A truly confident quarterback would have realized the competition is mere relegated to Cooper Rush and Trey Trey for the leftover crumbs.

His confidence is already shattered. This just adds to it. Dak is not built for adversity on the football field.

Trey Lance already got Dak trying out coaching.

I like the trade. 4th round pick for a 22 year old QB that was picked number 3 overall is a good risk that could pay off.

He has the talent, just needs development. 49ers seem like a bunch of drama between getting office and coaches about taking Lance and just wasn't a good situation.

Here, Lance can sit and develop without any pressure.

As far as QB controversy is concern, I think it's silly. Nobody in their right mind thinks Lance will take Daks spot. It does put pressure on Dak to perform and he seems to play his best when he has competition

But he will take Daks job.

I can think of 200 million reasons. 8)

I don't mind the trade. I don't like that Dak or the coaching staff including McCarthy wasn't consulted. Like Jerry can't leave well enough alone. The offseason has been great. The spotlight has been on McCarthy and Jerry can't let it be. This move is so Jerry and it's annoying **.

I do find it strange they never let MM know. Or Dak. I mean I could see not telling Dak. That’s not his job. Hiring and getting talent is JJ and SJ and even McClay job. But MM should have been told as the HC. I think MM getting to much spotlight. So JJ needed to make a splash.

And reality is, Lance is so far from being even in a position to compete with Dak given how "broke" he looked in San Fran.

Even if he could take Dak's job, it's probably not even for another 2-3 years, at best.

If he had given up a 2nd round pick I would agree. For a 4th round pick it's worth kicking the tires on a guy that was considered a 1st round talent coming out of college

I don’t think this “outplay” is an established fact, though I see where you are coming from. Some argue he has, but they also say Darnold has basically been consistent, though average. Lance on the other hand, has not. So it seems like Kyle Shanahan wants the consistency and experience.

But that is better news if you are looking for a young QB.

I guess if Purdy didn’t shine, Trey would still be there.

Good points. Honestly I can't speak on it because I'm going by what I heard. I wasn't in their training camp.

Only thing we can do now is just watch and see what Lance can or can't do.
