Not true. He didn't play poorly at all. In his 2 preseason games Lance was 22-33 for 285 yards, 2 TD's and 1 INT. He had high passer ratings in both games. Darnold also played well though, and the 49ers weren't likely to keep both.

Regardless, the obvious point FuzzyLumpkins was making was about the role Lance came into with the Cowboys after not going through training camp with the Cowboys
He played in the 3rd and 4th quarters of those preseason games. Purdy started, then Danold before Lance mopped up..

If Lance struggles in TC, Jerry will make MM game plan for the preseason games and maybe even play the starters to make Lance look good on film.
And if McCarthy refuses what then? What if McCarthy tells Jerry Jones that he and his staff intend to use the preseason to properly prepare the Dallas Cowboys for the upcoming regular season? What would Jerry Jones do?

The question is really why did they sign Darnold($4.5M) to begin with??? They did not trust Trance as a back up.

If Trance had actually beat out Jimmy G, then they would have been comfortable with him backing up Purdy.

Above only confirms that this preseason does not really matter how Trance plays in preseason. He will not be playing this year.

Best case scenario is Trance is playing for an extension as a back up QB.

Rush was the #2 QB. I don't know that meant he was the scout team QB. Regardless, the time to worry about that would be if Rush is still the #2 this year since Lance will be with the team from the beginning this year. If that happens that would be the point to give up on Lance.
My point is Trance could have at least got some experience against a #1 defense at practice as a Scout Team QB. He did not even get that experience. So he literally did individual passing drills and got basically zero reps all year long.

How do you think Romo made a name for himself. It was him making plays as a Scout Team QB.

Why do you keep this myth going? Lance didn’t want to be a backup and a trade was sought. As soon as he made this known, Darnold was brought in as a backup and took that spot. It had nothing to do with Lance not “beating out” him for it.

Ok.

So why is Trance competing for a back up spot with Rush? Why isn't he demanding another trade?

Why do you think? Because he thinks he has a shot at the starter job here eventually.

Why are you people so afraid of “Trance” being here that 90% of your posts are in regards to a 3rd QB who supposedly isn’t going to anything?

No one in the NFL is afraid of Trance. Why would I be afraid of him?

Well I guess he has a shot of becoming the starter next year just like he did in SF, by default.

If Dak is gone, Rush is not resigned, and GM Jethro signs Trance he won the job.

Never underestimate the lengths a few guys here will go to defend #4s honor.

Even if there was a 1% chance anybody would replace him, the bashing of said player can never be done too much, lol
