Aikman has disliked Bayless since the 1990s, when Aikman met Bayless and had to be in the same room with him.
Fixed.

Troy just said something I like and we got a young stud QB.Aikman ripped FOX for hiring Skip Bayless away from ESPN and giving Bayless his own First Take knockoff show on FOX Sports 1. Aikman has disliked Bayless since the 1990s, when Bayless wrote a book about the Cowboys that included unsubstantiated rumors that Aikman is gay.
“To say I’m disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement,” Aikman told Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated. “Clearly, [Fox Sports president of national networks] Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless.”

Because he helped "First Take" generate ratings for ESPN, and FOX offered him more money to do the same thing with its network.
And Skip might be the object of ridicule with some, but he is the epitome of opinionated sports talk, which is now driving the ratings for failing satellite/cable networks.
And THAT is why they would add him, syphoning off some of ESPN's viewers in the process - which, in the competitive world of sports journalism, is never a bad thing.
That why he has 3 SB rings. He's an assassin.Does anyone watch Fox Sports 1? Will putting that dip**** there bring in more audience?
Dang Troy, let'er rip, my man. I always wondered about Troy's desire to forgive and forget, wonder no more.
Sports journalism didn't use to be an oxymoron.
I'll go with both.Good for Troy. Even when you're near the top of your field, it still takes guts to come out in public with an uncensored rip on uppermost management.
And call me gullible but I think this is about professional standards, not just personal history.
Let it go, Troy. Let it go.
I've never been on board with catering to the lowest common denominator for added viewership,,, but in FS1's case it might be necessary.
It is just you... Granny is more muscular. Is it just me or do Bayless and Granny Clampett have the same physiques.
Let what go? He's just stating fact. I really don't think Aikman is still harboring any specific resentment over that stupid rumor, but he just doesn't have any respect for Bayless as a journalist. And why should he?

Calm down Idgit. Troy isn't gay. That was just some BS Skippy wrote. Not that there is anything wrong with it.
I think he does harbor specific resentment. When someone calls you "gay" in front of the whole world and never apologizes or makes it right, you kind of remember that.
I seriously doubt Aikman's reaction would be as strong had Skip's never comments about his "alleged" sexual identity.
Actually, it's the exact opposite.
They have locked up so many sports and events with long term deals at high dollar amounts that continue to incrementally grow that they can't make a profit off of it. This while making $500M per month on cable subscriber agreements.
Shows like First Take have minimal production costs, and are literally all profit as long as people watch. And, unfortunately, they do.
Maybe so, but I also think just chalking Aikman's comments up as sour grapes is also not accurate. He is capable of forming an opinion on a sports reporter's skill set and ability, regardless of whether that sports reporter insulted him.
