when everything was clicking in 92,93,94,95 he was a solid game manager. Yes he was a great leader but he was overrated. I watched the 96 divisional game vs Carolina and he blew that game. Threw multiple uneccassary picks and missed bjoroson for a walk inTD on the goal line. He kept forcing deep balls in the 4th quarter and the score was only 23-17. In 2000 vs the Vikings in the wild card game he missed wide open WRs down field. Missed warren twice deep, billy Davis , rocket.

I know he looked good when everything was rolling but he seemed to panic anytime we were behind. He’s probably the 3rd best QB in franchise history. Honestly if Aikman made the hall of fame than Eli deserves it too.
I'll take a three time SB Champ, HOFer on the my team any day of the week. Good Lord.

Read the original post. 23 TDS (career high) in a season OVERRATED ! 165 TD passes cmon. He got in the hall of fame because 3 Super Bowls. Aikman was only good for 5 seasons. 91-95. He blew the Carolina game, Arizona game. As I said even Garrett , Kosar , Buerdaline looked good with they filled in for Aikman with those early 90s teams.
How old are you? You talk like you are reading from a sports almanac rather than telling us what you actually saw. The stats only tell part of the story. Troy was our general on the offense and everyone shut up whenTroy talked. Those that say he was overrated just don't know what they are talking about.

I agree. After 95 he really didn't carry the team like "great leaders do" when he didn't have all the great pieces. A lot of his mistakes were ignored, like Brady or Dak. Our playoff losses to Carolina and AZ weren't the only examples, but they're big ones. In 2000 what about the Vikings loss. Shut out after the 1st quarter, smdh.

I certainly won't say he's overrated but I don't think I see any Superbowl wins in the last dozen years if he was the qb

Yes the team was **** the last few years of his career, maybe if they would have been smart and drafted Moss the end of his career would of been different. Moss's career would of been different he would of been more motivated.

I guess the meaning of the word over rated changed. There was nothing over rated about Aikman. Dallas did run a balanced offense but when we got into big games Troy could sling it with the best of them. The bigger the game the better Troy performed

I was talking about the last 12 years. But yeah, I'd be curious if the drafted Moss

Given your obsession with Romo, you're pretty much trolling at this point.

Aikman is NFL gold, and it chaps your tail that Romo couldn't sniff the success that Aikman had.

Heck, why stop with Aikman? Why not rip Staubach (his last pass was to a guard), Smith (finished as a Cardinal), Dorsett (Bronco) or any other Cowboys royalty?

Any argument concerning Aikman and Romo is not debatable due to gap in awesomeness.

Staubach was the best QB this franchise ever had. But Romo is 2nd and it’s not even close. Aikman couldn’t hold Romo’s jockstrap. Romo was so much better.

I would’ve never guessed you would respond like that.

Shocking, I tell ya.

It’s just gonna chap your hide when Dak wins something that Romo never could.

You must be a kid who never watched Troy play or someone who thinks moving around a lot makes you a better QB.

I bet you love Mike Vick

Yours is stupid they should’ve won 4/5 Troy blew the Carolina game and the cardinals game. 36,000 posts only 6000 likes haha!
Likes? Are you 12? Many of us have been posting together for almost 2 decades. Long before "likes" were a thing. You would have been chewed up and spit out before you knew what happened in the old forums. You're lucky this place has extremely tight rules. Damn kids...

you should start a Staubach was overated thread because Clint Longley looked good when he filled in for Staubach. Oh and Staubach lost 2 Super Bowls, what a bum, how did he get in the HOF?
