This is fantastic news!!! Watched a really good documentary about this tragic event just a few months back. I wonder if it ended up being the guy one of the girl's captured on their phone? Glad they nailed this monster.

If you do a little searching for a pic of the guy in question, there is a big similarity to the drawing of the "bridge guy" that was released at the time.

Ah - the old "Down The Hill" case. This one has haunted me for years. I'm glad the inept local police looks to have made some progress finally.

And huge shout out to the girls for having the presence of mind to create recordings before their untimely deaths.

A few things I've come across...

-The person arrested has never been mentioned previously as a suspect.
-There is an image floating around out there of either he and his wife's daughter (or it could be a stepdaughter) who's picture was taken on the SAME Monon bridge as the two girls and "bridge guy".
-There has been scuttlebutt all along that one of the girls had been conversing with someone over the internet who was "catfishing" for young girls.
-Supposedly one of the girls was very dressed up the day of her death.

One rumour I've heard...

And again, just a rumour.

There has been a consist suspect in this case for at least a couple years now.

This suspect is currently under arrest and awaiting trail for a laundry list of crimes mostly related to internet sex crimes.

Anyway someone stated the person arrested yesterday for the Delphi murders is a cousin of the person who's been under arrest for the past couple years.

And one other thing...

Recently the authorities have been searching a specific body of water near the crime scene.

I'll be curious to see what trickles out of the news about this. How they tied the suspect into the murders, how long they've been investigating, etc etc. Either way, it will be good to see these girls get some justice.

They've been very tight lipped with everything for years, so I'm definitely curious about the details. I think I remember hearing that police wouldn't even say how the girls were murdered and wouldn't reveal the details of the discovery of their bodies.

The only thing I had heard was information contained within a search warrant that was conducted on the guy's house/area who also owned the property the bodies were found on (Ronald Logan)–This search occurred soon after the girl's bodies were found.

Anyway in the search warrant (which was obtained via FOIA) "stabbings, lots of blood and possibly staged bodies" were mentioned.

Yes, but that's brand new information.

When I watched the documentary of this case on HLN earlier this year, you could tell the people being interviewed had signed some kind of gag order but I remember specifically that one of the guys that was interviewed (he may have been an attorney) remarked that the crime scene was absolutely "bizarre" and there was evidence scattered everywhere.

It will be interesting IF this guy is the guy, and he ultimately pleads guilty or is found to be guilty and sentenced, that some of the details of the case are released. No doubt the "quietness" from the authorities on or about the case has been a source of frustration.

-There has been scuttlebutt all along that one of the girls had been conversing with someone over the internet who was "catfishing" for young girls.

Well, that turned out to be true. This guy, Kegan Kline, has been a strong suspect from the start and is heavily into child porn. He set up a fake social media account to draw in young girls and according to police spoke with one of the two girls shortly before their murder, like the day before.

In court records, Kline admitted to creating the social media profile "anthony_shots" to meet underage girls and receive sexually explicit photos. Investigators say the person behind the fake profile was one of the last to communicate with Libby German before her death. Libby and Abby's bodies were found near a trail in Delphi on February 14, 2017.

He has been in jail for child porn possession for awhile and is about to go on trial. Speculation is, this arrest stems from him finally coming forward with info in order to get a plea deal. He claims more people had access to his "catfishing" account, so this guy who was just arrested might be one of those persons.

A news report here about the catfishing account and this Kline sicko. Warning, it's rather repulsive.

I've heard/read from several sources Kline is a habitual liar, but he's facing huge charges himself so maybe he did give up some factual information.

Most likely story is, he's lying to save his own hide. However, there were some seemingly serious moves involving him the past week or so, there was some sort of search of a river area after this meeting he had with police and this Allen guy was subsequently arrested.

Court records unsealed this week show the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office and Kline's attorney agreed to have him released into the temporary custody of Indiana State Police. The court granted the request Aug. 19. Kline was ordered to be returned to the Miami County Jail afterward. Kline has been held in the Miami County Jail for over two years while awaiting trial on the child pornography charges.

Indiana State Police would not comment on why investigators wanted to meet with Kline outside of jail or where they took him. But Kline's attorney, Andrew Achey, also asked for and received another delay in the court proceedings this week. Achey told the judge in his motion to continue that the parties are currently engaged in negotiations.

I see someone one the internet posted some kind of a audio recording that is supposedly from him and compared it to the recording found on the young girl's phone.

I will say his image is pretty spot-on with that first drawing done by the police. I'm not sure how they came up with drawing #2 which appeared much later and showed a young guy.

Monday's press conference should be interesting.

OK, not much information shared at the press conference (not that I expected there to be)...

Trial date is set for March.

Even if he plead, probably would not happen until they got close to the trial.

I don't know if Indiana has the death penalty. If so that could be used as a "lever" to force a deal.

Also do not know how the families feel about going through a trial where all the details would be released including images.

I will say though a trial would be very interesting.

Also do not know if the authorities think the suspect has committed other serious crimes, which could be figured into a deal.

In Indiana, the death penalty is available only for the crime of murder, and is
available for murder only if the prosecution can prove the existence of at least one of 18
“aggravating circumstances” identified by the Indiana General Assembly. These
circumstances are set out in the state’s death penalty statute, at IC 35-50-2-9. In order
to seek the death penalty, the prosecutor must allege the existence of at least one of
the aggravating circumstances set out in the statute.

One thing I'm interested in is if authorities believe this guy has committed other serious crimes... I mean for him to commit his first very serious crime when he was 45–seems possible but don't know if it's likely. I'm sure it will come out if or where he's live during his life (other than Delphi) and what unsolved crimes are in those vicinities.

My own crazy, wild-arsed guess on what happened is that he had access to Kegan Kline's "catfishing" account and arranged a meeting with one of the girls. When the girls saw him they probably thought something was up and he may have said or implied as part of the whole "Down the hill" statement the person they WERE meant to meet was... Well down the hill.

But there was no other person for them to meet.

He went down the hill with them, they saw no other person, got upset when he suggested something unsavory and he attacked them at that point.

If the truth is anything like that, I can't believe the guy waited until he was 45 to start doing this sort of thing.

Well down the hill.

I don't think we have to guess really about him having access to that "catfishing" account, or at least being partnered with Kline in this whole thing. That "catfish" account was in contact with one of the girls that morning, so it's a good bet the girls thought they were going to meet this young man on the fake account.I think you are right, when they saw this middle aged guy approaching them, they knew it was bad which is why the one girl turned her phone on and recorded him. Something I learned, the trail basically ends on the side of the bridge the girls were on. It's there, but badly overgrown and would have been hard to navigate. They were pretty well trapped.

It's also know Kline's phone pinged at a nearby location that same morning. It's thought he was waiting to pick this Allen guy up after the murders.

What is known is that just about two months ago the Indiana State Police sought to have Kline removed from the county jail, which was allowed, and they took him to an old airport that has a jail facility on it. It's very close to a spot on the Wabash river where police spent several weeks searching the river. Guess is, Kline disposed of something in the river, gun, etc, that Allen had used in the murder. That's why they had him moved to a different location, so it would be easy for them to carry him to the spot on the river and point them to where he disposed of any items. After that search concluded was when they arrested Allen so it seems connected.

Kline also deleted a bunch of stuff from one of his phones, a Snapchat app and another app called MeetUp or something like that. I've heard speculation that Kline's father is involved. He and this Allen guy are around the same age and might have known each other, but it's only speculation.

It's seems to me that if Kline is involved in any way he would be charged. I suppose he could be charged yet, but maybe police think the charges he is already facing will be enough to keep him locked up for a very long time and they can always get to him later. They might need to see what info Allen gives them about Kline.
