Here it is guys. Would any back do anything with those carries? Go back and study the plays.
Go look at some of the plays Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith made when there wasn’t much there. Those are the backs some of you are comparing Vaughn to. For him to get opportunities he’s going to have to make some plays when he’s given chances. Every few carries Pollard got he would break off a long run that’s how he got opportunities. He got 6 carries against the Giants averaging 1.3 a carry and the Giants had already given up by that point.

The real question is what do they do after this weeks game with the suspended RB is ready to return. Do they cut a FA signing? Does he replace Vaughn or Lupke on the 53.. my guess is they cut Lupke and put him on the PS either that or they cut the Jones and put him on the 53. I think Vaughn is safe, to much of a feel good story for Jones to allow hm to be cut at this point.
They aren't cutting Luepke.

Eventually it will be Deuce, coaches know talent, Turp is good running on a straight line and using his speed, don't forget he has had some fumbleitis.

Deuce will be special. It was just a first game thing.

We've only seen one game so I'm projecting here but play along. It seemed the role we envisioned for Deuce Vaughn was given to Kavontae Turpin in the opener. He was the guy in the gadget role behind Pollard and the JAG that is Rico Dowdle.

There doesn't seem to be enough snaps to go around for the four of them so my question is this.

Would you rather keep it as it was on Sunday night since recency bias has Turpin finding the end zone in the opener and he's now probably an uber weapon around here or do you want that role to go to Vaughn?

Again, they can't possibly feed four. Deuce was the odd man out in the opener until the game was well over. Someone will be the odd man out on Sunday and going forward. So pick one.

I'm team Wonka worker myself.
Rico appears the odd man out. But remember Turpin is actually a WR so doesn’t fall into the RB category technically. Which may make this argument obsolete.

While I was surprised that the coaches used Turpin in the backfield to rush for his TD .. maybe it was that very same alignment of placing a tiny might mouse WR ,, in the backfield that also caught the Giants off guard.

- Giants defense may have instantly thought Turpin was gonna be used in a passing formation - per WR flair/swing pass.
as opposed to a " surprise" handoff as a RB.

- I highly doubt that's rushing the ball is gonna be Turpin's weekly bread and butter bit in terms of carrying the ball.

- Duece ? So long as the front 2 RBs are effectively running the ball and being factors in making plays,
..and they remain healthy; it's a possibility that the club will not be in any hurry, rush or push to get Vaughn on the field.
I've always though Deuce would end up being RB3 heading into the regular season.

I didn't like utilizing Turpin the red zone.

He's probably the lightest player on the team.

Just give it to Pollard every single time in the red zone.
I think there’s value in getting turpin out on the edge in the red zone. Get him in space and try and make one or two guys miss.

Makes a lot more sense to me to try that either at our own 25 or mid field.

A lot less space for defenders to have to account for in the redzone so they can play closer to the line.

Depends on injuries to be fair. If we are down a position, for example OL, and they have to bring extra OL to the game Deuce will probably end up being the odd man out some Turpin has that role plus special teams. The active roster numbers game is real.

As time passes I think both players will find their niche. Turpin probably got more touches than Deuce since the latter is still a rookie.

I just wanted Vaughn to get some carries with the starting line out there just for fun.

It all depends on how mike decides to utilize a player.
If a player doesnt get any carries or passes, they cant do much except block.
It was one game where dallas led by alot the whole game.

But to me it was an ideal game to test duece, and lipke, and maybe turpin.
even after they had game in hand, they didnt do much testing, and even rush could have been given a work out.

But mike was more focused on keeping the 0 on the board than he was getting a good look at some of the players that havent seen much action.

Deuce is the RB most likely to break the barrier of being somewhat inactive.

It will likely require an astounding performance to change that, but it's possible!

The entire offense was reg last week
The offense did very well in the limited possessions they had. The Cowboys only had 265 yards but remember they lost offensive drives after the FG block score, the pick six, and had a short field after the Gilmore pick. The weather (five drops) and the score also limited the passing game and made the overall numbers look worse than they really were.

In terms of EPA (expected yards per play average) Dallas had a very good game offensively. The numbers don't show how efficient they really were. Remember they scored on five of their first seven possessions; and one of those failures was when they got the ball back with only 1 minute left in the first half.
