- I'm not sure it would Bass ahead of Richards at LG.
I've not seen Bass taken in any snaps in preseason at LG.
It seems to have been all at RG.

- Richards has taken a number of snaps in camp practice at LG, but not LG in preseason games, but he's
a better athlete than Bass.

- Richards is super- key cuz I can see us needing him very soon because of the Tyron Smith predicament
Tyler (or Richards) will have to slide out to take the LT spot at some immediate point.
While I agree, Richards did play LG in preseason games.

Bass is RG. Asim is LG.
Bass played RG in the preseason, so you could be right. However, he was a left-side player in college and I thought he performed better in the preseason at guard than Richards did. Richards was fantastic at LT, and just OK at LG IMO.

Tyler will be fine, but FYI people are forgetting Bass played LG in college. Just because Asim played LG in preseason doesn’t mean he would play there for Tyler.

Asim >> Bass as a tackle

Bass >> Asim as a Guard

They did change blocking techniques. Foot work has changed .
this could be something to monitor as the season goes on with all the offensive line.

Always go with the younger guy with more upside. We will see.
If Edoga is healthy, I expect them to go with the vet. If he falters, then we'd bring in the rookie. I'd say I can't see the coaches being comfortable with starting an undrafted rookie, but I guess we did that with Steele. Of course, that rookie season wasn't anything to write home about ... and I think we did it with Steele because we didn't like our other options. I don't think the team is down on Edoga. It's just a question of health with him.

Per BTB:

"As it stands now, Smith would be replaced by rookie Asim Richards, according to the depth chart at DallasCowboys.com. T.J. Bass and Josh Ball also are listed as backup guards, but the team has shown a preference for keeping players at one position as much as possible.
Richards has looked promising during the preseason, but is still learning to play the pro game. He would be an unquestionable downgrade, and with the rising defensive line of the Giants, that is not a comfortable thought. "

Isn't Edoga on the practice squad now ?
Plus he has been out per injury for quite awhile, wouldn't his game shape be in question ?
Also, hasn't Edoga been exclusively at OT in camp ?

Hoping we rest him and he maybe ready to go. If it’s minor and actually minor he can rest it and get better faster. If I am the staff I would rest them all accept walk through.

And so it begins.

I initially read it as "Tyron". Glad it wasn't him, but, depth is even worse on the interior of the OL.
And the horror show begins. Oline cant even make it to the first game. No continuity already.

It's a bit ironic that the Cowboys held their starters out of the entire preseason to avoid this type of thing but a starter gets hurt the first practice of game week.

Having said that all reports say it's minor. Hopefully it's even something Smith could play through had it occurred during a game.

I hope that we are not snake-bitten on the Oline this season. We really need it to hold up. I understand the confidence in Bass and Richards, but do we really want to see them starting this season?

Discomfort is not a pull or a strain. He will play next Sunday night.
Exactly. Teams are super cautious now. Smith will probably sit out the rest of the week except for walkthroughs, test the hammy out Sunday night, and probably starts.

Farniok?

Bwaaaaa!!!

He sucks
He really regressed this camp and preseason but I think the Cowboys still wanted him on the PS. I read somewhere he wanted to move on so they kept Hoffman (who was equally bad) and then went out and got Sean Harlow. Bottom line, Farniok, Hoffman, or Harlow, if Dallas needs any of them to start they are in trouble.
