Stats are often meaningless.

Often -- especially for interior defensive lineman.

Having said that would you be happy if he ended his season at his current trajectory of 0.75 tackles per game and 0.25 sacks per game? (12 tackles, 4 sacks for the season).

Russell Maryland never had stats. Excellent player.

True, however, the Cowboys really never made an attempt to 2nd him to a second contract.

He was a very good run stuffer but didn't offer much in the pass rush department and no tears were shed when they chose to let him go to Oakland.
