well one thing to consider is the now possibility of us being able to get mdfadden. The falcons will probably have the third pick in the draft and parcells will not be big on taking a RB that high. I can see the boys being able to trade their two number one's and possibility MBIII and Flozell (if Jerry was to franchise him and give the Falcons the right to sign him. I dont think Jerry will want to pay him with McQuisten in the wings and Davis being able to play if needed). Sure we may have to give up a very good player in MBIII but McFadden gives us a legitimate running game. I really see this unfolding so dont give up yet on McFadden because Parcells loves getting players he knows and two number ones and Flozell (a player you probably let go N E Way) and MBII ( a backup pro bowler but yet in still a backup) for a running game is huge!

MIAMI MAKING A RUN AT PARCELLS?

There's a building buzz in league circles that, with each passing moment that Bill Parcells isn't named as the new executive vice president of the Atlanta Falcons, there's a growing chance that it won't happen.

Some league insiders believe that Parcells is talking to Miami as he negotiates with the Falcons, and that the Tuna could end up in the net with the Dolphins.

It's all speculation at this point, but it makes sense that the Fins would make a run at Parcells, and that he would listen.

TUNA GOING IRISH?

There's talk in league circles that Bill Parcells plans to pursue Cowboys V.P. of college and pro scouting Jeff Ireland to become the next General Manager of the Atlanta Falcons.

Ireland was Parcells' right-hand man in Dallas, and word is that Parcells actually let him run the draft (subject to the periodic involvement of owner/G.M. Jerry Jones).

Ireland is well respected, but largely unknown because he seeks no attention or notoriety.

The pursuit of Ireland could get sticky. Per league rules, Ireland is free to leave only if his contract has expired or if he's getting "final say" authority. Parcells could take the position that "final say" will be delegated to Ireland, but we're not sure anyone will believe it.

Hey guys, just wanted to put in my 2 cents, i dont like the part, not sure if you guys knew or not, but Parcells was still under contract this year with the Cowboys, he couldnt sign with anyone as a head coach, but it seems like he is free to sign as vice president of atlanta falcons, without the cowboys getting any draft picks compensation. Shoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not going to atlanta....per mort.

he might be talking to the dolphins. I think miami is the better spot personally, atlanta is a really bad sports town and I would not want to be there.

second time tuna has turned them down.

Wonder if he's going to Miami instead?

Sounds like it to me. Miami makes alot of sense for him.

number 1 pick in the draft. Lots of young players. he lives there in the winter...

mort just said he is contemplating a better offer from miami.

More bidders = higher prices.

yep. Classic Parcells.

I wouldnt doubt all the keyshawn talk for the last two weeks about how parcells built the cowboys was to drive the price up. that is how parcells operates.

He is smart -- the Dolphins would offer an infinitely better situation. Geographically, historically, etc. Players want to be in Miami.

Huizenga is in the middle of negotitating a sell of 49% of the team with a majority interest to follow, so Tuna may not even know the new owners.

That doesn't sound like his kind of situation. I think he likes to flirt with the idea but pulling the trigger is another thing all together.

Actually ESPN Radio is saying he would be in the Front Office and not coaching the players.

Atlanta offered him the title of VP or something like that, but he will not be coaching.

I think it is a great move on Atlanta's part. Like the Cowboys did, the Falcons Organization needs a kick in the butt and Parcells is the perfect guy to do it.
The Jets were 9-38 the previous three years before Parcells took over the Jets. They were far far worse than we were The Patriots were also 9-38 before he took them over

Jerry better find a way to quick Ireland. He's too important to the Cowboys future. Jerry should up Ireland's salary and up his title to include SA to President/GM or whatever it takes.

Don't let it happen Jerry!!!

I really hope we don't lose Ireland. It scares me what would happen after that.

that is what happened in new england though. Same thing, they were dreadful on the field and off, the facilities were shot and everything had to be revamped.

That is when lurie and bob kraft got into negotiations to buy them. Lurie really wanted them, but he was busy making bad movies in los angeles and kraft already had some ownership with the stadium...

this is really a different situation though, he is not the coach or the gm, he is there to help put those guys in place and then guide them until the organization is turned around.

and hopefully no one forgets, there are alot of people in the jets front office that parcells is close with, particularly there gm. So it is not out of the realm of possibility that he goes there for a gm.
