Welcome back Lacewell.

Tom Ciskowski is the second guy in charge behind jeff ireland. He is pretty capable, I dont know that he wants to be anything more than a scout but he is a big part of everything they do.

"Jerry, there's this kid down at a little school in western Tennessee that we should take a good look at. He can really move like Sherman Williams and can block like Kendall Watkins. And he's got Quincy Carter's charisma and coolness, ya know. He was a big-time recruit but ended up at this little school because of problems with the authorities, but I think he's a pretty good gamble. His daddy used to work for a contractor down there that builds outhouses and he's a dad-gum good guy. We could move up and get 'im."

You don't post enough Chief.

Parcells was just using Atlanta as leverage. He's in negotiations with Miami, but the offer ain't sweet enough, so he calls his buddy Mort, and tells him he's "probably" going to go to Atlanta. Then this morning Miami counters with a better offer, and Arthur Blank throws up his hands, and breaks out the Maker's Mark.

Hopefully he also leaves MB III and others alone when their time comes!

No way would Marion leave the rising Cowboys for the lowly Falcons.

Jerry still consults with Lacewell even after Larry retired. I doubt he will ever return as head of scouting but he and Jerry go back a long way and still talk to this day.

This is from an artical at the start of training camp.

Also present on Wednesday was Larry Lacewell, the Cowboys’ former scouting chief. Lacewell is at camp as an observer and informal consultant to owner Jerry Jones.

“He’s a football guy who observes things, just like my dad,” Wade Phillips said. “If he says something, I’ll listen.”

I don't think Parcells can do it. Don't think he can be a front office guy, and especially not outside of the east. It's just not visible enough. He needs the constant attention from the media. Maybe he'd still get it because of his rep and quotability, but I don't think he can resist needing to be the guy in the spotlight, making the decisions and looking like the boss.

If he comes back, he's the head coach, and it's for Miami.

You really think he wants to coach though? Wouldnt suprise me normally, but this time I dont think he would want that.

And as far as attention goes, miami is in the afc east, they play in new england, western new york and new jersey.

Parcells will get attention if he takes over a team in burma.

I just can't imagine any situation where it would "work" for him to be in a front office position.

What coach is going to go to Parcells and say "No - I want THIS type of player." How would Parcells possibly keep himself out of the head coaches business?

Maybe he'd go for it, but it would be a disaster, IMO.

I don't look for Bill to coach again. I think the stress of the job and long hours is something Parcells does not want any longer yet a job like this would keep him close to the game and gives him the opportunity to help make a difference in turning a franchise around. As for attention this is Parcells the media will always want to talk to him.

Probably because he'd do just like the only other time he was just a GM and hire a guy who already worked for him, who used the exact same philosophies. Al Groh wasn't going to tell Bill what to do, he was going to take orders and try to carry them out.

But in some ways I agree with you. Don't forget that Summerall said Bill was thinking about coming back to coach and not just GM. I don't know if he could stand just watching someone lose games... I wouldn't rule out a Pat Riley-like takeover.

Or, those are not man boobs at all. Parcells is really a woman and it is her perogative to change her mind!:laugh1:
