Ellis is trying to make himself bigger than the team. He wants this and that. But he doesn't want his field play to determine his status on the the team, he wants it without that. His teammates are out there because they know no position on the team, starting or otherwise is a lock. Ellis wants to be the starter, he also wants to decide what position he should be starting (DE not LB). Not the coaches, not the ones who are running the team, but him. He doesn't get his way, so he takes it to the media and whines.

I find it funny that you guys are so willing to bash a good player and leader on the Cowboys just because he gets disgruntled over his contract a couple of months for the past couple of years. Yet you guys have a hard on for a crappy back who tries to spend as much time away from the team as possible.

Once again, you call it bashing, I call it honest opinions. OH no, are you BASHING Julius? We can't have that! I thought you were a GOOD person? Well, there goes that theory.

Do you have any proof that anyone criticizing Ellis "has a hard on" for Julius Jones?

Ellis brought any fan negativity upon himself when he decided to air his grievances via the media. He did that intentionally. Too bad.

I bash players who are bad and not team leaders like Julius Jones.

I do not have an erection for Julius Jones. You apparently sport a considerable throbbing one for Greg Ellis.

Two can play this game.

If Jones is a crappy back, then Ellis is a crappy OLB.

Thoughts?

At the time of his injury Ellis sack total approximately equaled that of Ware, if you think Ellis sucks then what must you think of Ware.

You really should like Jones if you had a consistent bone in your body.

They are very much the same quality of football player.

Jones has produced to "good levels", makes excuses for his lack of elite production and feels Coach Parcells was responsible for something unpleasant in his professional career. He is well-spoken and seems very professional.

I suspect you are only a few well-placed Jean-Jacques Taylor articles describing Jones' rock solid character away from really liking him like you do Ellis. Give it time.

Amazing. So I guess Julius isn't good until he whines to the media about his contract, whines to the media about his role on the team, and whines to the media about Jerry Jones and how the owner dissed him. Otay buckwheat.

This is completely irrelevant and notes just how child-like and simple you think.

Last year, Ellis had 4.5 sacks in nine games. That was exactly what he produced pretty every season for the last five.

Ware spent an inordinate amount of time in coverage. I don't feel out of place when I can say that Ellis was rushing far more than he was dropping in coverage. Ware also faced double teams for much of the season, overcame that adversity and closed the season strong, which is something Ellis has NEVER been able to do in his career.

Do you have any other pointless tidbits to throw out here? This is entertaining.

Do you normally try to win arguments by being patronizing?

Anywho, you say Ware had to overcome adversity? Well Ellis doesnt really have the body type of a 3-4 OLB, nor has he ever played OLB before that year yet he was able to be productive. I think its incorrect to say Ellis hasn't had to overcome adversity at all.

Well first off Ellis is a consistently good football player and is a team leader. Nothing like Julius Jones.

Secondly how can you say he is being professional when he blames Parcells for his problems. It is not like Parcells was on the field with him and grabbed him by the nut sac and forced him into pile after pile. I doubt Parcells would be displeased if Julius made a cut and turned a 2 yard gain into an 8 yard gain. The thing about JuJo is that he has no balance, and therefore he can't make the cut like Barber can.

Yes. Especially when someone has no point and doesn't realize it.

Anywho, you say Ware had to overcome adversity?

I do.

He was double and triple teamed often and had fewer opportunities to rush the passer than Ellis did.

Yet, he had but a half of a sack less than Ellis entering the Arizona game. A WHOLE HALF SACK. I was not aware that half a sack was that huge of a deal. I guess it is when you are trying to make the case for Ellis being more worthwhile than he was.

A whole half sack. That's how much better he was than Ware everyone. Wow.

Well Ellis doesnt really have the body type of a 3-4 OLB

Please tell this to Willie McGinest and Adalius Thomas. Same body type.

I never said he didn't. He did a pretty decent job last year actually.

But I don't think he deserves a raise. Had he finally finished the year strong and not been injured, perhaps. But he did not. Too bad, so sad.

Ellis is much taller than Thomas and slightly bigger than McGinest. McGinest is about as big as as 3-4 OLB's get and Ellis is slightly bigger than he is.

Jones has got close to a 1000 yards every year for the most part. That's pretty much equivalent to the eight sack average Ellis had. That is skirting right at the edge of average to good.

So what is left. Oh, the "leadership" angle.

I asked you before, and you will not answer.

When is the last time any NFL player has got a new contract when the sole basis was the fact they were a "leader"?

The NFL is full of backup QBs that are "leaders".

Players like Jason Garrett mentored players that earned more money for years. Did Jason deserve a raise for that?

No.

Production is what counts.

Secondly how can you say he is being professional when he blames Parcells for his problems.

And I can find several instances where Ellis has blamed Parcells several times for his troubles over the past three offseasons. He even has implied that Coach Parcells had something to do with him being lowballed on his contract.

Do you really want to go here?

2006 weights/heights -

Ellis: 270, 6-6
McGinest: 268, 6-5
Thomas: 270, 6-2

Are we talking about Ellis or Dexter Coakley here?

You have a gift for exagerration.

McGinest is two pounds less and an inch shorter than Greg Ellis per NFL.com.

Thomas is the exactly the same weight Ellis is.

Talk about grasping at straws.

Is this like when you stated "most teams" was somehow greater than half?
