The OP has been anti Romo since he joined in Feb.

Now I'm depressed, not good news at all. You mean to tell me the interception man will be here for 4 more years??????

He is just fishing for someone to agree with him.

Would you say this is a make or break year for Tony meaning that he has to play a huge role in helping the Cowboys win their first playoff game since 1997? In all honesty, how long does this franchise hold on to a QB who plays a role in the cowboys either missing the playoffs or getting put out in the first game? I will admit I was very high on Romo in 2006 and 2007 but that Eagles game from the last game of the season has me unsure about him. I think we all should be worried a little when a QB compares one of his interceptions to being similar to a punt. So I just see this year as the year that he succeeds or will be on extremely thin ice in 2010. How many more chances shoukd he get for the money he makes? Is there anyone on this board who would not want to see another QB in 2010 if the Cowboys lose their 1st playoff game or miss the playoffs?

I would not say it is a make or break. Dallas is not going to go out and pay a rookie big bucks at this point when they just recently paid Romo a very good contract. Dallas problems are not the QB, yes he has to play better but to do so those around him also have to pick up the pace especially along the o-line. Stop and think Dallas gave up 12 sacks in dec. alone more than any month by a good margin and no QB is going to have much success if you can't protect him.

It is only a make or break season for Tony Romo amongst the fans.

However, even though one man is typically never the single cause for a team's failure, Tony Romo will be heavily criticized if he doesn't win a Playoff Game in the next couple of Seasons.

I agree. Danny White in my view was a very good QB and yet caught all kinds of hell by many fans. I understand it comes with the job I also understand winning and losing is not about 1 position it is about team.

They will say, talk to me when he wins a ring.

Then it will be, talk to me when he wins 2.

Then it will be, he had a great supporting cast.

Intelligent football fans know when they see a good QB, especially after twelve years of turds taking snaps.

Apparently TO is the reason why our team was so bad last year.

In years to come, we will look back on this thread as one of the pioneers in the "Stephen McGee for Starter" movement.

Who said that?

Oh right. Nobody.

HoS did. TO was a negative influence Garrett couldn't run certain plays because it wouldn't please TO. Romo had to focus on TO otherwise he'd be unhappy that's why he forced him the ball. He was a locker room cancer so on and so forth.

Guys like you have a hard time understanding what "one of the problems" means.

That sore butt has affected your thought process.

I partly agree with HOS. I don't think TO lost games for us but I do know when things get rough that is when teams need to come together not start this crap about the QB and TE drawing up plays or getting into pissing contest with the media. TO is a fine athlete and a very good WR but when teams hit the proverbial bump in the road he makes things difficult for a team to come together and rally around each other.

Hopefully, Hostile will reply to you. Should be fun. :)

My reply:

~DaBoys4Life World~
  • Terrell Owens was done wrong
  • Felix Jones sucks
~The Real World~
  • Multiple players, including Terrell Owens, were either released or not re-signed
  • Coaches were fired and new coaches were hired
  • Additional depth and special teams personnel were addressed through the draft
Yep. That about sums it up. uh oh...

Has Romo made this team better then it was with any QB since #8?

Yes

Has Romo shown an ability to pull the rabbit out of the hat and make something out of nothing?

Yes

Has Romo shown a tendency to get a little antsy and maybe choke a bit when EVERYTHING is on the line?

Yes.

I'm a Romo fan. This year is a bit of a make or break year for him. Doesn't have to win the SB. Hell, the team doesn't even have to win a playoff game for his personal season to be a success as one man can't do it by himself.

So far we've seen him the happy go-lucky boy wonder smiling and grinning...right up until the bitter end.

Then we saw a man who was under obvious pressure, lost the grin and the happy go-lucky attitude, Suffered some injury and set himself up for criticism of his leadership skills and attitude. I'm hoping the Cabo incident and the suffering of last year as finally put things into perspective for him and he better understands what is required of championship caliber QB on the Dallas Cowboys.

He is still a pup by pro QB standards and inspite of his early success is still enduring the learning curve. Hopefully he has learned his lessons well.

I can't wait to see!

Rarely do I respond to a thread without reading what others have already written. But this thread ticks me off so much that I'm making an exception.

The expectation some fans have for Romo are absolutely sickening to me. From memory, the guy has always been Top 10 in QB rating for his 2.5 years as a starter in this league. Another recent thread presented some more detailed analysis that I think reveals the guy as Top 5 overall during his time as a starter.

There are a mere handful (3 to 6 maybe) of QB's in this league that some people might prefer over Romo. But we might need to go shopping for a QB? We have problems at other positions that require those resources. Check out the OL performance in the 4th quarter in that playoff loss. That is where resources need to be spent. And our QB play, IMO, is light years ahead of where our safety play has been the last 3 years.

On the other hand, I think it is great that we drafted a QB this year. Yes, lets invest some resources for the future at the team's arguably most important position. If McGee, or Kitna, or whoever ends up on our roster the next few years can prove themselves better than Romo - hallelujah! But I'm not holding my breath cause it is a tall, tall, order.

Romo is 29 without extreme NFL mileage on his body. I hope he can play another 6 years at least. We'll see. If he can play, going forward, like he has cumulatively for the past 2.5 seasons I'll take that in a heartbeat whether we win a single playoff game during that time or not.

If we fail to win a playoff game in 2009 it won't be because we don't have adequate QB play to do so.

If you made a list on offense of which positions are "good enough" for us to win in the playoffs with you would start with Witten. And the next player on your list should IMO be Tony Romo. From there you can make your own picks but for my money those are the two most proven pieces.
