2 things I have seen from Dak and the Cowboys passing game are 1) Dak does tend to throw the ball late. Several times in the game he had receivers open and took a second too long to let it go which allowed the DB to get in and make a play. Dak needs to be quicker with his decisions just a fraction of a second. 2) the other thing I noticed is the Cowboys throw a lot of passes at receiver who run a round and stop. There was not much in the way of hitting receivers on the move. Big plays come from hitting receivers in stride.

Dak is at his best when he makes quick decisions and throws tot he receivers on time, and when he spreads the ball around.

I've been saying this for a while now. Even when we had Jason Garrett for some reason our wr's love stop routes. Especially the outside WR's. They either run Go's or stop routes most of the time.

One day, Cowboys fans will realize that Kellen Moore can't stop the play to tell Dak where to throw the ball.

But I'm not holding my breath.

Receivers are wide open often only to set Dak throw into double coverage to Dalton Schultz.

Interesting breakdown by Kurt Warner of Dak's play vs Houston.

Warner's breakdown are very interesting.

However, keep it in perspective. He turns on the film and calls out what immediately comes to mind based on his experience in the schemes he played in. He is not doing the type of deep dive that an opposing D-Coordinator and staff would do. He is definitely not spending the hours that the Cowboys offensive coaches spend planning the scheme concepts.

The TD by Pollard play is a good example.
- Warner was analyzing that based on his preference for Pollard to be the last option in Dak's read progressions.
- In reality the play was designed with Pollard as the primary option.
- Dak looked right then immediately back left. Based on Dak from previous games and previous years, he never comes off the 1st read that fast if it is really the first read.
- On this play Dak was just "looking off" the defenders to get space for Pollard. The CeeDee route was designed to hold the help defender away from Pollard.

If Warner analyzed that play from the perspective of "what if" Pollard was the primary target, then the explanation would be completely different.

So explain how people reference how Dak was leading the NFL is offensive stats prior to his injury in 2020 and how Dak had a career year in 2021......as if Moore had nothing to do with any of that.

It's not the start of the race that measures the driver or the driver's team, but the end of the race.
You guys are too hung up on stats during the race. Let's talk about stats and Kellen Moore's prowess near the checkered flag.
I've been saying all along coaching matters more during the playoffs. The best coaches and the best quarterbacks usually win.
Although regular season primes you for the playoffs, I'm not enamored with regular season stats when there's a greater goal.
We're Dallas Cowboys fans, not Detroit Lions fans. We have an expectation of the season that doesn't end with Week 17.
Sadly, we've been so inept as a franchise, that some of us have been forced to take refuge in stats.
Dak was leading the league in offensive stats ... Dak had a career year in 2021 ... blah, blah, blah.
How did Dak play against the 49ers in the playoffs?
What brilliant play calling did Moore devise throughout the game that kept us ahead at home instead of needing a failed rally at the end of the game?
We were 1-and-done in the playoffs. But, hey, we were the No. 1 ranked offense in 2021. Woohoo! :flagwave::rolleyes:

This. But the Prescott family blinders have really really strong prescriptions this year.

As always, the excuses should be expected and as entertaining to read as ever.

Moore can't dictate what the defense does.

Now check me if I'm wrong but isn't one of the responsibilities of a QB in this era, to try and read what the defense is doing and adjust routes\plays based on what he is seeing?

At the moment the ball is snapped there is nothing Moore could have schemed that could work well against a defense that is aligned to defend it. The QB must be capable of running the show when the play clock is running.

If you ain't reading, audibling and/or dialed in with the WR's on option routes, you ain't beating good defenses.

"Do it Kelce! Do it!" Remember that?

Kurt Warner vs Kellen Moore

Side Note:
Lawrence Taylor is regarded as the greatest NFL player.
- That does not qualify him to criticize NFL D-Coordinators like Dan Quinn.

Moore is the all time college wins leader.
- He did that despite below average arm strength, hand size, height/weight and athleticism.
- He succeeded by being the smartest guy on the field and smarter than some defensive coaches.

Warner has NFL starting QB size, height/weight big hands and a strong arm.
- Warner's 1st season with the Rams was his 5th season out of college.
- It's not like a lineman that needed time to get bigger and stronger.
- It was 5 years of learning to play QB.
- That indicates a slow learner.

got to mix it up my man and i believe it wont be lie that all the time.. like i said, some has to do with bad timing or luck with tips or dak getting bumped.im sure they are working on it.. i mean given all that offense is playing well as a whole.Im not worried

last Sunday, 2 dropped tds and some dropped passes along with some pressure bumped or hit dak in the middle of the throw, that doesn't happen every game and the pass game if those pays were made would have looked much better. we won , we are winning. Lets just leave it there.
....you started the thread with criticism of the passing game (outside of Dak).

So again, to make sure I understand correctly, when things go wrong, it's clearly the fault of the o line and Kellen Moore.

When things go right, it's "all on dak"

I honestly don't want to put words in your mouth but that seems to be what you are saying. Am I understanding you correctly?
Where did I say it was the fault of the o line and Moore when things go wrong? Of course its on Dak and the receivers as well.
And I also never said "all on Dak". What I said was that 98 yard drive was the talent of the team. Moore did not scheme guys open. It was just Dallas outplain the opponent who had 1 win prior to the game.
To clarify....i've never been a all or nothing person. I don't give Dak sole credit for losses or wins. Never have. He plays the QB position and yes that position is more important than every position on the field. So he will get his blame and get his credit. But if the guy gets sacked i'm not gonna blame him for Josh Ball. Just won't.

It really seems like lately they are laying the groundwork for the playoffs.

Preparing for an eventuality they know is coming. Like squirrels hoarding their nuts for the long cold winter ahead. I half expect to find a bunch of Dak excuses in the airbox of my tractor when I fire it up to clear all this damn snow out of my driveway.

Yep, it's so comical that this victim mentality and total removal of culpability by the QB here makes rational QB performance discussion nearly impossible.

It's entertaining though, lol.

That's fair. My apologies for misreading your post

I do believe many of daks adherents do feel as I described but I can see that you don't. Thanks for clarifying

And then Schultz gets blamed for inability to "separate" from coverage

I don't know how anyone who understands football or claims to can watch the ALL 22 and see how poor the playcalls are at times. Not all the time but there are times where there's absolutely no one open. I know a lot of y'all are Eagles fans have you guys not wondered how Devonta and AJ Brown are running wide open most of the game? Or do the Eagles just have special powers?

Hey don't get me wrong i'm a Dak fan or "homer" or "apologist" or whatever they say but but i'm logical. That Texans win took everyone to come together after Dak turned the ball over a few times and the defense gave up probably one or two too many scores. But when it mattered they all stepped up. Dak doesn't even get the chance if no for that Lawrence stop.
