Was Dak Ever Considered Elite

There’s no point in debating who we should trade for because we are stuck with Daks insane contract and no team would want to pick up. With that being said there are 5-8 QBs I’d rather have than Dak if we had never signed the contract

Look guys this isn't complicated. What I said wasn't relating to one particular event. For example a very large portion of you guys will be sprinting to your keyboards if Dak has a bad game to talk your trash. If Dak has an average game you'll directly compare his level of play vs Cooper and will bring up Dak's salary. If Dak just dominates.....well the defense Dak played was terrible.

Don't play me. One of these things will happen sunday. Very few, if any, posters from the anti dak crowd will give him credit if he lights it up this week.

As I’ve said before, there is always a constant re-writing of the narrative regarding Dak. After his putrid last half of the season last year, his biggest fans started flipping the script that they never declared him elite on this board. Without getting in particular posters on this site, among them folks who claimed he was better than Mahomes or Allen, the following article clearly establishes that people were actually challenging the general claim that Dak proved himself elite, meaning this was a common perception that needed to be addressed.

The numbers aren’t changing since this article has been written. Even without taking into consideration the win-loss record, Dak is horrible when it comes to TD/INT numbers against quality competition and the stakes are high. 2021 was actually a greater demonstration of this very fact that Dak is a garbage-time QB that is basically in the category of a Goff, though we haven’t seen Dak on a team anywhere near as bad as Detroit. Both of them were horrible on their later progressions and both of them were on good teams, beating up bad opponents.

You can’t claim it’s because of the ‘defense’ he loses.

I’m talking about Watson as a player, I could care less what he does off the field. Just so you know we follow and watch a sport that involves ramming each other’s heads against each other developing into chronic CTE later in life. But I’m not here to debate the ethics of players and all that - only on field performance.

Burrow went to the super bowl as a 2nd year rookie. Give me that any day over what Dak has done on stacked teams. Don’t forget Burrow has a crappy OLine.

To me, Dak is fool's gold until proven otherwise. He's like Garrett - they both politic well and were/are carried by something other than themselves to a string of wins. In Garrett's case, it was mostly due to Romo. In Dak's case, it is a strong defense or strong offensive line/running game. Dak can play well against bad teams and even sometimes be competitive against good ones, but he'll clam up when things get tight on defense and he has to depend on his (average) accuracy and ability to read the defense efficiently.
