Was Dak Ever Considered Elite

I’m way over your head. What is the bigger picture? I’ll give you my perspective after you tell me your version of the bigger picture.
No you're not. The bigger issue lies right at the top. Dak is just one piece to the puzzle. Lesser QB's have SB rings and to place blame on one player is easy. It's lazy. There are much bigger problems with the team.

In Dak's rookie season when he took the team to a 13-3 record and claimed the 1 seed in the playoffs, I recall lots of folks calling him elite.
There is only a handful of elites
But if a team churned QB’s trying to find that elusive elite guy you’d go through decades before you might find him
There are QB’s in the HOF I wouldn’t consider elite
But they were top QB’s of their era and many only got in because their TEAM won a ring

The trolls dont want to read this. Nor want to admit that serviceable QBs can demand a ton of cash from teams. Nor do they want to put their name on a QB the Cowboys should trade for that is better than Dak...because they cant.

Its a checkmate.

Dak has had short stints where he looked elite, but he's not done it consistently to be in the same breath as the top 5 guys. Dak has also had several terrible games over the last 12 he's started (TB 2022, SF, DEN, KC, 1st Wasthington game, etc) where it's tough to put him in the top 10 QBs.

The good news is I don't think this team needs an elite QB right now. 2020 they absolutely needed a QB to carry the team. Now they need Dak to be in the Cooper Rush model with a better arm. We need Dak to be more of the 2016 Dak than the 350 yards a game Dak.

This team gets an upgrade when Dak is healthy, but he has a long way to go to be viewed as elite.
Very balanced perspective
Thanks

You’re not wrong I’m guilty myself but they litter entire board. Even on topics that are not qb related often they become that way
Yep but imagine if we all ignored them. Their threads would fall off the front page quickly and with no responses to post in other threads they would eventually lose interest. Their entire existence is predicated on inciting responses gaining attention.

I'm not even going to mention his first years, when most considered them his best.

To keep it relevant, I'll just look at his last three seasons. 2019 to 2021. I'll compare him to all the other quarterbacks that had at least 500 pass attempts during that same time span.

There are 40 quarterbacks that meet that criteria.

Dak Prescott:

Completion percentage: 10th place (tied with Aaron Rodgers)

TD percentage: 10th place (4-way tie with Tom Brady, Josh Allen and Justin Herbert)

INT percentage: 10th place lowest (3 way tie with DeShaun Watson and Teddy Bridgewater)

Passer Rating 8th place

Yards per attempt 7th place (4-way tie with Kirk Cousins, Ryan Tannehill and Joe Burrow)

Sack percentage 5th place lowest

Adjusted yards per attempt 4th place

Yards per game 1st place

Dak Prescott is one of only three QB's to be a top ten in every one of these categories.

Depending on your definition of "elite", I would say that describes Dak.....right now.

There’s no point in debating who we should trade for because we are stuck with Daks insane contract and no team would want to pick up. With that being said there are 5-8 QBs I’d rather have than Dak if we had never signed the contract

Wilson
Herbert
Mahomes
Brady
Allen
Jackson
Watson
Rodgers
Burrow

Yep

And this is where most of the league is without those handful of Elite QB’s. They try to find one who is serviceable enough to build around .

It’s already been attempted with Dak in 2016, 18, 21..

Yeah, so did Dak in week 1 and last years playoffs loss to 49ers.
If you wouldn’t take Herbert over Dak then just stop.

Only by Dak lovers. He's a fringe top ten, but since the last half of last season and this year, he isn't top 15. That opinion won't change if they light up the worst defense in the league next week. Show up verse a competent defense.
