Watkins: Hours Clause - The contract died over this?

Somebody said yesterday that more and more, they thought Jerry sabotaged this thing on purpose.

After reading this BS, I have to agree.

No wonder Reeves was insulted. I don't blame him one bit.

Jerry, you SUCK.

Jerry Jones - Al Davis with money.

I'm leaning toward your opinion but would like to know if this type of clause is standard practice.

In today's society there are no more handshake deals. CC, I agree with you. Also, the other side of the coin, if Reeves was going to put the time in any way then why balk?

Because its a slap in the face to a guy who has taken 4 teams to the Superbowl.

This is like hiring Bruce Springstein to play your daughters wedding and telling him he can't eat the food.

Please remember who's writing this story.

Can Calvin Watkins be trusted?

Reeves said he had never seen it in 23 years of coaching. And that includes a prior 'consulting' gig in Houston.

Yeah, just saw this on another thread. Then unless I'm missing something, Jerry's an idiot.

Wow, I mean what more can be said that you guys haven't already in this thread? I always KNEW deep down JJ is an awesome person, but not to THIS extent. I believe he has dementia: and I'm not kidding.....I'm as serious as a heart attack actually.

To me it seems like we're itching to get any new blood in the house so bad, that when it doesn't happen, again we freak out!

Let's just sit back, see what the draft brings us, see how Garrett matures as a coordinator, see how Wade does in his 3rd year, see what we bring in free agency, see the cuts, the hires, and get through pre-season before we FREAK OUT!

We're way to addicted to names, and what guys have done in the past.

I don't think it's simply the disappointment in not adding a coach who took four teams to the Super Bowl.

I don't think it's simply the disappointment in not adding a former Cowboy who still loves his team.

I don't think it's simply the disappointment in not adding another coach with 30 years experience.

It's the way that the process was mangled, bungled, and completely mishandled by Jerry Jones and what that shows about the true dysfunction of this team.

If this is true, then I have no doubt in my mind that this was not over hours but because Dan wanted to make an escape.

I remember I when apartment hunting with my fiance she signed a lease and put a deposit down, then we had second thoughts, the guy was basically a jerk to her when she tried to explain that same day why she wanted to undo the contract because he already had her signature. So to get out of it we basically had to come up with issues with the lease wording itself and make it seem like the relationship couldn't end amicably.

Basically issues we would normally just talk and work out we made to seem like insurmountable differences, which is what seems like is going on here. Either Jerry or Dan had second thoughts and wormed their way out of the contract.

Reeves is not new to the NFL consulting business. He did it with Houston. He sounded really amazed it was in there and really had never heard of anything like punching a timeclock before.

That should suggest that Bob McNair probably didn't insist on that kind of clause.

Why? What would make him bail out?

I really don't believe that is the case. He wanted to get back into the NFL and even relinquished a job in San Francisco he probably could have had. Now, he doesn't have either.

Either Jerry or Dan had second thoughts and wormed their way out of the contract.

Well, I have listened to both interviews. One sounded truly upset. One expressed far less regret and reiterated the issue. So who do you think would use this as an out?

I guess Jerry should of shook his hand and that would have been the contract since Dan would of been satisfied with that....

I don't buy any of this. There is more to it and the BS doesn't stick with me.

Jerry wanted Reeves to sign a multiyear contract that had a clause in it that said Reeves had to make sure he was at Valley Ranch for ______ amount of hours each week?

You have got to be kidding me...cmon Al Jones....a guy like Dan Reeves could have really helped this teams and your worry about whether Dan Reeves will put in his time as he has done in his long carreer. This is a slap in the face to Dan and Jerry should have know this.......Jerry is tearing this franchise apart and I am starting to wish being a long-time Cowboy fan that he would sell this team or hire someone as a GM......I'm getting sick of his Al Davis ways !!

The off-season from Hell continues. Losing the Thanksgiving game would seal the deal.

We all know there's are no actual "punch clock" at Valley Ranch, so how would they have tracked his hours? I'm guessing they use an electronic card to get in and out of the building, so maybe they track your presence that way. Still, this is borderline humiliating. Dan Reeves is not a KFC trainee.

My insider sources (no one at all, I am making this up) tell me that Jerry was going to tattoo a bar-code on Dan Reeves hiney which would be read by a scanner in Jerry's office each morning.

Dan would have to pull his pants down to be clocked in each morning. Common practive at Valley Ranch, Garrett's favorite part of the day.

Worse, Jerry would slide the time card through Dan's butt crack. Did I just write that?

With this crap-eating grin on his face.
