Watkins: Hours Clause - The contract died over this?

Jerry Jones is an idiot

Forget football.

Let's talk business.

Ya interview and then plan to hire a guy at a very high level in the ogranization and you're going to pay him a LOT of money...and yet, you expect him to essentially do what, hand you a time sheet at the end of the week as if he's a part time employee in the mailroom?

Here's the deal. If you think you can't trust the guy on something as simple as the hours he works, then don't hire him. Period. Geezlouise, was he also going to include a clause about the guy not stealing office supplies?

As a manager/leader of a business, Jerry Jones is an idiot.

I wish I was an idiot of his magnitude. It would be like my own personal bailout, lol.

Yeah where do I sign up to be the business idiot with millions upon millions upon millions of dollars?

:D

Oh, he might know how to make money...but when it comes to running an organization, he's an idiot.

I have NEVER heard an interview where I walked away and thought "Hmmmm...bright guy"

Parcells...I didn't like him when he was with the Cowboys..but I ALWAYS walked away from his interviews and thought "Bright guy"

So, you listen to Jerry Jones speak and think..."Wow, I wish I was THAT smart"???

What if this bright guy signed a contract with similar time clause?

I agree with every word. It is a messed up world when us bright people are broke, right? Just kidding bro.

I understand where you are coming from but imo, Jerruh is a self made man and no matter what we might think of him you don't reach his status without a degree of intelligence. Maybe feigning stupidity is his super power, lol.

now we're gonna deal in "what ifs"?

OK...i'll play. IF, Parcells signed such a thing, It doesn't make it any less ridiculous. What has one thing got to do with the other?

I'll choose to disagree. I don't think there's a necessary correlation between money and smarts.

Yes, lots of smart people make tons of money.

And I've also seen lots of dopes who make a lot of money.

That Jerry made a huge amount of money says NOTHING about his ability to run an organization.

If being as 'dumb' as he is means I'd be a millionaire many times over I'd take being thought of as dumb by the media, and a bunch of Monday Morning QBs on a Cowboys message board, all day long.

What Jerry is doing is causing a great many, many fans to lose their enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys. I am 56 years old, was born and raised near Dallas, and have been an absolute die-hard fan for my entire life (entire life of the Cowboys). This coming year, I will not be renewing NFL ticket for the first time since I've had it. I only miss 4 or 5 games each year anyways, but in the past, it was worth it to me not to miss a single game. Not any more. Oh, I'll still watch and hope and root, but my "give a ****" meter has dialed back considerably for the first time in my life because of the way this team is being managed and where I fear it is headed. The team is spiraling downward like our economy and, like our economy, needs a stimulus package and none seems to be in sight. Very disheartening indeed!

Couldn't agree more, I have such disdain for Jerry that he has put me in a position of almost wanting the team to fail so Jerry will be brought to his knees. How can one man be so clueless.

And for everyone who says Jerry is "smart", I don't agree, he's a gambler that hit the lotto with his oil co and then hit it again when he bought the Cowboys, hired Jmmy and drafted 3 hall of famers. If he goes back to hiring strong coaches that demand discipline, hard work and promote the team concept, he'll get my full support again and I will priase him to no end

It is amazing to think of the amount of money an owner will throw away with players contracts. Signing bonus for rookies that dont make the team or ever contribute, ect.

But Jerry is so cheap and control hungry that he let Dan Reeves walk away over a time clock.

The fallout from this isnt just losing Reeves. How in the world can anyone expect a head coach in the future like Bill Cohwer or Shanahan to come here when jerry has zero respect for anyone.

I'm afraid this story is going to hurt us in the long run.

Can you see Jerry telling Cohwer or Shanny that they have to start punching a time clock.

:lmao2:

It's a reflection of our society.

Money = Success

If you're rich, you've got to be a genius.

Says a lot about why we're in the dumper...

Let's try this one more time.

I am commenting about his ability to run an organization. Not his ability to make money. The two have not much to do with each other. In fact, you'll find, most self made owners are HORRIBLE at running their own business...all the traits that made them successful initially, are the same traits that often make them ineffective managers.

And I am commenting about this outside of the fact that it's the Dallas Cowboys.

But now you're into discussions about the media...and Monday morning QB's...Hey, no sense in sticking with the initial discussion, right?

So that is what you are going with. So a super bowl run would be a disappointment to you?

What if this shoe was on Jimmy Johnson's foot, or if Tom was alive and Jerry lost his services over this issue? Wonder how the wind would be blowing?

Not necessary my point. Most self made people have two things in common, drive and intelligence.

I am not talking about a person who had money handed down to them. I am talking about the person who didn't start with much and amassed considerable wealth.

We live in a capitalistic society, which money is one of the metrics for success.

I disagree. Money is measure for how well you make money. I don't think it's a measure of intelligence. you've never seen a real dumbo with more money than people smarter than him/her?

and btw, let's say something negative about Yeager. It's been a while. :D

For some people maybe.

And Juke's point is that because Jerry Jones may be good at making money does not mean that he's good at running his football team.
