Like I said before, I hope Watkins can take advantage of this oppurtunity.
I would LOVE to see Watkins prove to the fans and coaches he is every bit the player Roy is. Brown as well. I want the decision to keep or not to keep Roy to be a no brainer next summer.

Watkins has a chance to shine. Let's see how he does. End of story for now.

Wade said that Roy wasn't supposed to be the guy on him.

And yes, I would trust roy more than watkins every day of every week.

The other guy playing chase behind RW was Pacman. So Pacman got torched? Not hard to believe.

The problem I see here is that Watkins is out of position when the ball is thrown. The good thing is that he has some speed to make up for the gaps he leaves behind.

He's going to have to play really really really well before Watkins is able to for sure take the job away from him after a month.

The Buzzards are circling. They wont be happy until Roy is gone, then they'll move on to the next victim.

I don't think anybody hates Roy personally. I just think people are tired of $26M dollars going down the drain for tackles.

I have always preached about Watkins and said all he needed was more time. I have felt he was in line to take over at FS and keep Roy. That has been my mentality since he was drafted. Things have changed a little since then with Roy. I guess we will see if Watkins has what it takes to start or play his career out as our S backup.

Where did I type the word hate? We beat the Eagles, yet Roy becomes a topic of disdain. Go figure.

It's hard to feel bad for Dough boy Williams. Wasn't that him (38) last night
chasing Desean Jackson into the endzone.

Watkins could be an upgrade by default...thank god and Roy for helping out the team...

#21 Pacman was right there also.....

Pat Watkins still makes some stupid plays- the facemask on Westbrook in the second half comes to mind. I hope for improvement; I guess we'll see.

I guess horse collars are pretty smart?

Until Watkins gets a rule named after him Roy is still way ahead in the stupid plays department.

Personally, the last thing I would hate to see is to lose a starter. We can dog these guys all we want, but it's not like they're starting for nothing.

With that being said-at least it's a 3-4 week injury, not a season ending one. We have good enough depth in the defensive backfield for someone to step in and play admirably, albeit with less pressure.

However-if this was a season ender, well...that would be a different story.

Well, it looks like Watkins will be the starting SS for at least the next 4 weeks, while Williams is out with a fractured forearm. This might make a few fans a little nervous, but I think even more Cowboy fans are happy about it and especially on this board. Watkins is a much taller DB at 6-5 and that will certainly help him against other TE's in the league. He's definitely faster than Roy and I don't think anyone will dispute that. If Watkins starts to make plays at the SS position, it's going to be hard for Williams to come back as the starter IMO. I certainly won't shed any tears over it though, because it's all about making plays.

I think Watkins will take advantage of this oppurtunity.

Why wouldnt Hamlin move to SS and Watkins play FS?

How bout move Henery to FS?

Watkins is a bean pole, not sure how the coaches can look at him and think he would make a great SS, I dont get it:(

The FS is the QB on D and makes calls. I'd rather have Hamlin do that. Watkins can hit. You don't need a huge hitter. You need coverage and tackles. Look at Brian Dawkins. Watkins gets a chance to shine. Here's his chance.

Less not forget-Newman isn't at full strength yet to start(he could very well continue to play the nickel the next couple of weeks).

IOW-if they move Henry to FS over the next month, then that would leave Pacman and [whoever else] at the other CB spot, with Newman only coming in for the nickel.

BTW-you need to trust this coaching staff. While I myself don't agree with Pat at SS, it's the coaching staff that watches them in practice every day.
