Sorry, we won games last year because of Romo...not Garrett. Garrett's "try hard not to lose...but never take a gamble to win" style
has always left me cold. Without Romo, this team and especially Garrett would be an afterthought.

Okay and every head coach wins games because of his quarterback so what's your point? Every team is dependent on their quarterback. Where would the Patriots be without Brady and yeah yeah I know they won 11 games with Cassel like 5 or 6 years ago...........

We're just asking for a couple of wins without Romo.

I doubt their offense would be completely impotent with Garropolo like ours is with anyone but Romo. The integrity of their scheme would not change, they would still run the same crossing patterns that have a low degree of difficulty.

They would still have Amendola, Gronkowski and Edelman correct?

But make no mistake. They'd have a better offense than we do but that's not what I was stating. My point was any team would struggle without their quarterback. The Steelers sucked without Ben R. Its bogus to pretend like this is only a Cowboys problem. Granted, we should look better than what we do but the fact is........you take away Romo and Dez and this is one of the worst offenses probably in the NFL. I can't think of any team who has a starting caliber quarterback of a Weeden or Cassel and a McFadden as their #1 and a Terrence Williams as their #1. Not even the Browns.

With this roster? It was asking for too much in hindsight. I thought we'd 1 or 2 atleast. But I also thought special teams and the defense would be better than what it has been.

It's not asking for too much unless you're a Garrett apologist.

There were at least 1 or 2 games sitting right there for us to win over this 5 game stretch.

A good coach would of gotten us a few wins by now.

Exactly. Yet, we have how many? Last year we gave Linehan and Maranelli the credit for why this team was so good but now its time to give Garrett the credit for the losses. Unbelievable.

This guy....

I'm sure Romo will play his heart out to avoid some college QB from being drafted. And I bet he can't sleep at night due to this overweaming fear.

Yeah, UNBELIEVABLY stupid. Romo TOTALLY seems like a guy looking over his shoulder after all the work he's put in and games he's singlehandedly won for us.

I agree. Although I believe that QB is the one position you can take even if there are players from other positions that are more highly rated. Let's say we draft 16th and there is a QB on the board we have rated 23rd, but a TE we have rated 8th. If we believe that he is a legit first round talent that fits our scheme, then I'm taking the QB. Any other position and I would lean more towards taking the TE.

YR

I agree.

I remember during the Wade years, Jerry use to spend time with Wade. They went to that horse race together from what I recall.

Garrett's biggest defender seemed to be Stephen. they were seen as a tandem in particular during the Wade years. Stephen also worked with Garrett's father in personnel going back to 1997. And Garrett plays footsies, per some on this board, with Jerry's daughter.

The Jones Family loves Garrett because he allows them the appearance of being football people with absolutely no push back. That is what Stephen loves about Garrett. He saw what his father went through with Jimmy and Parcells and he wants no part of that.

What were they? Because I can't recall ANY.

Atlanta was there to win but gutless playcalling didn't allow us to control the clock and we kept going 3 and out in the second half.

New Orleans.. Gutless playcalling yet again. That game was there for us to win and we didn't go for it.

New England beat us.

New York beat us. We had a chance in this one but I put the blame on the players and not the coaches for the Giants loss.

Seattle game was there for us to win as well and we were gutless.

Also, defense is not a thing that you can consistently hang your hat on in the NFL. The rules don't allow it.

The best defense in todays NFL is an offense that can control the time of possession.

Linehan deserves credit for last year because he brought balance to the team when Garrett couldn't.

The defense was still bad last year but did well overall because the offense controlled TOP.

The saddest part about watching your season end in October is knowing that when Romo comes back we're going to win some meaningless games.

So we get the gut wrench of watching this season come undone before it really even started, without the compensation of a high draft pick at the end of the tunnel.
That's my worst fear. We win every game that Romo comes back and end up with a terrible draft pick with nothing to show for it. Honestly, I think it's the most likely scenario at this point.

Gutless play calling was why we were winning the Atlanta game. They stuck with what was winning and their quarterback. failed them.

The Aint's game we lost on a CJ Spiller wheel route.

Giants game. Cassel gave the Giants 7 and our special teams gave them 7.

Seattle.....terrible quarterbacking play.

None of these games were in our hands to win except the Falcons game. Falcons game is the one we should've won now that I think about it. Granted, their team is superior to us but if you look at the rosters of all these teams and what we threw out there.....we have one of the worst offenses in the league.

This team has no business winning ANY games with Weeden/Cassel and Terrence Williams as their #1. Its the sad truth that no one wants to admit. I've never seen Bellicheat win with that type of talent. I've never seen Pete Carroll do it. Hell I never seen Jimmy Johnson himself win with that type of talent. Yet, Garrett is suppose to do it. I just don't see it.

If its being a Garrett apologist then so be it. But i'm being a realist here. I got slapped with a big fat reality check after these games. This offenses simply isn't that good. If the Texans have the worst offenses in the league or the Jags or whoever.....their offenses look better than ours.

49ers and the Rams have looked terrible but even i'd take their offenses over ours right now. Personnel-wise.

That's the least of my fears. Knowing if this team can still win is a fear?

The defense created turnovers.

And Linehan deserves blame just like he got credit last year. Linehan did this same crap in Detroit but people gave him a pass last season because Demarco played his arse off and took 30 carries a game for him.

I can't prove it but with Romo we are at worst a 2 loss team and at best undefeated.

The offensive talent is not the problem.

Losing Romo is just exposing how crap our coaching is.

No excuse for 0-5, being predictable and gutless.

This line up and out athlete mentality that we have just will not cut it. Coaching matters. Especially when a wizard like Romo is hurt.

Dave Campo could win 5 games a year with the worst rosters I've ever seen and he never lost 5 straight games.

We're not asking for a lot.
