I don't care about totals, Glenn can lead the team for all I care, I am just saying get him involved early, make teams deal with him.

I like Owens but I am not a TO head, you would do better not labeling people if you want to have civilized dialogue.

I want what is best for the Cowboys, I just think getting him started early puts pressure on the defenses.

Exactly..... AND I AM A TO HEAD... but I thinking outside of that box in this thread. It not personal its strictly team business.

I am not talking stats... thats like Mark Brunell completing 20 straight passes... werent they all just about 5 yard passes(sarcasm) but you get my point...

I am talking about the high percentage plays for TO do really do something.

Unlike the anti-TO's here I am talking production and not just "get TO the ball because its TO"... I am talking "get TO the ball the right way because its TO"

The "right way"? Based on his high number of drops (to say nothing of the passes he hasn't even attempted to get), it appears that the "right way" to get the ball to Owens would be to walk over and hand it to him.

Owens isn't getting open, and he leads the league in drops. Imo he should be getting fewer passes thrown his way, not more.

For most of last night, Owens was single covered by freaking Fred Thomas and couldn't get open.

He ain't all that.

Period.

But he's not why we lost the game-far from it. I should think folks would be more concerned today about the D than Owens getting his force feeding.

As usual on the nosey :hammer:

I say from now on bench Glenn, Witten, Crayton, JJ, Barber and anyone else except oline and only throw TO the ball...all game....because we have to get him involved instead of him making an effort to get open.

TO can singlehandedly win games... if only one... he needs to be given THAT chance.

LAUGH!

He cannot "single-handedly win games".:lmao2:

Look at the problems last nights game exposed..from Payton's forcing of Tony out of the pocket to the first half Saints dink and dunk that killed us, then when we adjusted they killed us deep.

Even Superman Owens is not going to singlehandedly overcome THAT.

And "keeping TO happy" is not and should NOT be a motive on this team. There are 52 other players deserving too.

You may laugh... doesnt mean you are right.
He can win games singlehandedly. He has beaten US singlehandedly.

Its ok I aint mad at ya'll. My point is... he needs to get involved earlier and in the right way.

Yes that is extreme but that is the only way to make TO happy and get him involved early enough to stroke his ego. If he would get open and catch it when thrown to him he'd get involved earlier.

Get off the TO Ego thing... he wants to be involved, he want to help us win, he wants to score TD's.... all very bad things....

Who cares if he is happy, or about stroking his ego ?

I say get him involved so defenses have to deal with him, not go in at halftime with he nor Barber have any touches.

Those two both make plays.

Do you think I'm concerned that 'you're mad at me?':lmao2:

I'm mad that I have to come here and read such nonsense..that after a game that could have exposed us so completely that every other team will now carve us up for dinner, the 'solution' for some is to continue to placate a player who is no longer able to win games singlehandedly, (if he ever was), and now can't even separate from Fred Thomas.

If there are any game breakers on this team their names are Jones and Barber. And they also take heat off a young QB..who should NOT be forced to feed a ball to anyone.

Give THEM the friggin ball.

But that is what we'd be doing. He sulks when he's not thrown the ball. If he'd work harder to get open he'd get the ball earlier. There are 10 other players on the offense that are busting their butts also why shouldn't he?

I'm not saying we should, I want balance. I just think we should use him early if he is making the big money.

Why not get him involved ?

If not, then the next thing you realize it's halftime and he and Barber have no touches.

That is mind-blowing to me, ... those two have been big lately and no touches ??

I have no issue with that however Dallas did not have the ball much in the 1st half so it is a bit hard to get anything going when you don't have the ball. As for TO involvement as long as Romo is not forcing the ball into him I have no problem but when I know we have others who in their own right are very good players who can make the big plays it would be foolish not getting the ball to them as well. As you said balance and balanced is not achived if we are forcing the ball to 1 guy.

It is not hard to defend TO when you know he's going to be running a straight deep pass, and you have a safety back there to help... We are using TO as a diversionary target... We have him running LONG routes all day, very rarely running quick slots over the middle.... We aren't creative with him...

You can say what you want about Owens, I can tell you are not fond of him, but he does play hard.

I don't question any Cowboy players effort.

The thread title was not using him in the right way, not that we don't use him at all.

We do.

I would figure out the ways he was used in games against us and try that for starters.

He killed us in the past.

Some of us have noticed that Mr. Owens has been, shall we say, "reluctant" on those quick over the middle passes recently. He has developed a serious case of alligator arms.

He's getting plenty of opportunities, but the QB can't catch the ball for him.

The way he alligator arms it and pulls up short when expecting contact? I don't blame the coaches for forgoing the short to intermediate slant routes. Owens has lost his nerve

Have you noticed Glenn runs more patterns over the middle now?

He mans up...despite his size.

You mean...when he was younger?

He's not the player he was as recently as two seasons ago.
