You mean...when he was younger?

He's not the player he was as recently as two seasons ago.

That's what this whole thread is about, not using him right !

A serious case of alligator arms ??? Where did that come from ?

Watching the games this season. Don't tell me you haven't noticed the number of times Owens has shyed away from contact?

My point was that it has more to do with a decline in Owens' skills than the routes he's (sorta) running.

If he did all of the things that you accuse him of, he wouldn't even be able to make an NFL roster. Get real.

He drops passes
He takes plays off
He doesn't work to get open
He fears contact

No team would keep a WR with those qualities, so either the Cowboys are stupid or you are wrong.

There is a verse in Persian that reads:

‘If your heart is not deceived by the mirage, be not proud of the sharpness of your understanding;
for your freedom from this optical illusion is due to your imperfect thirst.’

These people need to be proud of the 'sharpness of their understanding' regarding TO....

And if what you said was true, Randy Moss would have been out of the league a long time ago.

There are lots of players in the league who fit the model you describe, it's just that most of them aren't as highly paid (and therefore as visible) as Moss or Owens.

I don't think it can be disputed that we have TO running a LOT of deep routes to create some sort of diversion... When your flooding receivers down field, you create problems in spacing... the diversion doesn't work... it only starts to work when you establish a running game, and the defense is forced to play men up front... we abandoned the run, and we want to put it on TO...

So have the coaches.

That great coaching staff that couldn't adjust to a screen play? That coaching staff that always seems to blame 'execution' and not 'game-plan'? That coaching staff that abandoned the run in the first half? That same coaching staff that let Barber touch the ball one time before half? That same coaching staff that continued to blitz from the end, having Bush just run right by and catch a screen pass for like a 40 yard gain?

I then cited a player currently in the NFL who met all the criteria you described. In fairness, an argument can be made that the Raiders are stupid.

Did I misunderstand you?

Those are qualities that some are using to describe Owens, basically not giving him any credit at all, only focusing on those things listed above as if they were the only adjectives to describe him.

He is better than that.

Do you think I'm concerned that 'you're mad at me?':lmao2:

I'm mad that I have to come here and read such nonsense..that after a game that could have exposed us so completely that every other team will now carve us up for dinner, the 'solution' for some is to continue to placate a player who is no longer able to win games singlehandedly, (if he ever was), and now can't even separate from Fred Thomas.

If there are any game breakers on this team their names are Jones and Barber. And they also take heat off a young QB..who should NOT be forced to feed a ball to anyone.

Give THEM the friggin ball.

Wow... you are a little too "uncharacteristically" too sensitive today. I feel your pain.

"such nonsense"... well thats your opinion and you could choose not read it I guess... but I would rather you did. Get TO involved earlier, we sustain drives, we make plays... then in this case the Saints dont have the ball for most of the 1st half.

People really need to get past the TO thing. He was brought here to be a threat. We dont use him like that. Its like having a gun and just showing that you have it be sliding your jacket back. Pull it out and shoot the darn thing I say.

The "TO thing" people need to 'get past' imo, is the blind worship and totally unrealistic assessment of his value and skills.

It's absolutely surreal.:laugh2:

So in your assessment he has been given every opportunity to be successful since coming here?

I know he wasnt with Drew... with Romo we are TRYING to be too balanced. Sometimes you take what defenses give you or sometimes you have to MAKE things happen.

Dallas has used Owens in motion and in the slot however Dallas is not going to use TO as Philly did in the WCO everyone knew that when he was signed Parcells indicated that TO would have to learn our system after all I don't think you change an entire offense for 1 person and have everyone else learn it the one has to learn the offensive system. I think Owens is getting his oppertunities within the system and he has put up good numbers on the season. There will be games he will not get as many oppertunities just as there were games that Irvin did not get a lot of balls coming his way. Other than last nights game Dallas with Romo has been putting up the points and doing so by getting everyone involved and being balanced 1 bad game should not change what Dallas has been doing to achive the success they have had thus far this season.

Its not just last nights game. TO hasnt really had BIG TD's YET. That has to change. If he drops - you go back to him over and over and over
