We hate on JG, some more than others and some even clamored for Jon Gruden. Why?

There are 20 or so teams who have had fewer wins than the Cowboys over those 7 years.

I don't know about the majority of Cowboy fans but that tells me that HC changes rarely change a teams W/L record. If it did, 20 or so teams would have a better W/L record than JG coached teams over the past 7 seasons because most of them have had at least one HC'ing change.

You could also state that the Denver Broncos would not of won a SB if they didnt fire John Fox. He had a pretty good record in the 4 seasons with them. I think we need to realize that even though everyone knows Jerry is the mastermind behind everything that goes on with this team. On Game day Garrett is responsible for making sure everyone is doing thier job correctly and that includes over seeing Linehan and Marinelli. I hate to beat a dead horse but play calling, coaching during the game and adjustments are my biggest problem with Garrett. That being said I wouldnt hire John Gruden for 10 years 100 mil. Even though I believe in the in your face style of coaching that Gruden brings to the table. I would rather see Dallas bring in Harbaugh from Michigan but that will never happen because coaches that will get in players faces and hold them responsible are strong willed alpha guys that arent afraid of confrontation. Thats not gonna work with Jerry driving the bus.
 
Wow, do I know how to rattle cages or what!! Simple ways to do that, start a JG thread, a Dak Prescott thread, and although Zeke is old news I'm betting the news will continue and he'll get his own thread again real soon
 
Garrett is a nice guy..he was given the HC position without making his bones as a coordinator first... JJ gave him an OC ID tag. His on-field demeanor gives the impression that he is mostly a cheerleader, 'a go for one or two' card keeper who doles out too many pats on the back, claps and smiles when a swift kick in the pants and/or an icy glare is called for....
As for Gruden, ..he had a decent run in his time, playoff success is hard to ignore.Many may have wanted Gruden here because of that or because he opines as if has all the answers while covering games from the media booth...heck, even Matt Millen seemed to have all the answers when he was on TV...I will give Gruden a gold star for his QB evaluations and critiques. Owner Davis wants to generate enthusiasm for the Raiders...Gruden surely can deliver that...for the time being.

It's easier to say now because it would have been obvious for anyone with a half a brain. This applies anywhere not just football. If you were successful mainly due to one guy's work, you are not going to be as successful without that guy by doing the same things as though that guy is still around.

So, let me get this straight, you wanted to overhaul the offense that won 13 games in 2016 right? And you believe the Cowboys were successful in 2016 on offense because of Romo mentoring Prescott and overseeing , is that correct? So, if this true, couldn't Kellen Moore of fared just as well as Prescott? Sorry, this is one of the goofier, opinions I've read from you. It reeks of your hatred of Garrett and erased any objectivity you may of had, which is understandable to some degree, but way over the top and extreme.

I agree with this some what, but this upcoming season will really tell imo, if Prescott can make the necessary adjustments and look more like the franchise QB he appeared to be in 2016.

You could argue that Gruden built up the Raiders team that his Bucs faced in the Super Bowl. Chucky brought a much needed attitude to that Bucs team that put them over the top.
 
Would have like to have seen the Growler here as HC. Would like to see any number of coaches here for that matter. With JJ as GM, who would want to come here if The Tuna couldn't get it done? I was a Garrett supporter for much of his coaching career. As OC under Phiilips, he was play calling and game play adjustment to the D showed promise, however, that seemed to have abruptly changed. But after this year, and even some of last year, (despite their record,) I have lost interest in what he can do or not do as HC. Not sure he is even a true head coach after JJ took away his OC play calling duties and gave it to Linehan. At this point, I am not sure exactly what HC duties he does have, not to get off topic. What bothers me about his leadership is his lack of fire, inconsistency, poor game management, and his plug-and-play approach to player positions and game preparation. His "process" seems to be an emulation of Landry without the results. Is his game face an attempt at the Landry stone-face affect? I don't mind detachment, but only if it yields results. He tinkers when he should leave well enough alone. Maybe coaching decisions are made by committee. Maybe JJ is the real HC. Perhaps they throw darts at a board for game planning. Whatever it is, it is certainly dysfunctional and reminds me of someone trying to herd cats in a corral. I have neck strain from SMH.

It's obvious to anyone who's been following the Cowboys, Romo ran this offense. He knew it better than anyone.
And you can't really understand why Prescott was better than Moore? Really? LOL. Do you even watch the games?

I get it. You are a JG fanboi and get upset when someone takes a shot at him. Did you get upset when Stephen Jones suggested the same changes should be made ?
 
I've read a lot of complaints about Garrett and I have read a lot of comments defending Garrett against criticism over the past few years. What I haven't seen is a compelling argument for why Garrett is the right person for the job. About the best explanation I've seen anyone come up with is "he's the best we can get with Jerry".

Is there a more compelling argument to keep Garrett than that?
