We need to move Byron Jones back to corner

Wilcox and Heath at safety...Both hard hitters and both are much improved..Heath's second interception would have probably won the game for us if not for the horrible penalty on Brown.

Heath is showing great ball hawking awareness..that's what we need back there.

Jones should of deflected the damn ball on that last pass by Rodgers..what was he thinking there?
Please quit unless you have studied the All-22. You can't evaluate Safeties without it.

Dave Campo said what I've said since Sunday.... It was the cornerback fault.

Jones messed up on that play to Cook. He should have blanketed him. One play then go to OT. Screwed the pooch is kind.

But he's a keeper. Heath is STs and should compete at SS (although both safeties play both positions.....sorta kinda). I agree we should get another safety but unless you go 1-2 you might as well draft one with athleticism later and coach him up....or try to that is.

We need two more DBs. This is an area where you can find a 1-3 year player at CB in FA. I'd get one in FA and then draft one high (1-3) as well as load up with another 5-7 and several in UDFA. CBs can be found later. DEs not so much. We also need another cover LB to compete.

It was ZONE coverage. Dave Campo confirmed it was the CB fault NOT Jones.

Go ahead and cut this "jag" and watch how fast and how much Jones would get signed too on the open market.

Heck, I'm sure you could at the very least get a 2nd if not a 1st rounder if they were open to trading him (which I would assume they aren't).

Two years. 1 tunrover on a hail mary play at the end of the half.

It must be the lowest out of all safeties in the league

Jones is responsible for deep coverage regardless. He let Cook get behind him and worse he could have easily have covered him even if he had still caught the ball. He was five yards off Cook. On Third and forever to allow that and lose the game is inexcusable. Believe what you wish but Jones owns that play.

TEs foam at the mouth when matched up against BJones.......the word has been out for awhile now.

I saw all 22 last year and Heath was good. I'm sure he's been even better this year with limited opportunities. Again, he should've had 2 interceptions and a sack against Aaron Rodgers. Let that sink in. Some of y'all don't want to admit that Heath just might know what he's doing back there.

Seems rather odd to choose that play to defend. He tracked Cook to the sidelines only to turn away and face Rodgers at the last second? Seems to me he was on Cook and was in good position until he decided to peek in the backfield and got caught. It's a scramble drill 5 seconds after the snap. There's no excuse for letting him get behind you that far down the field in that situation.

I know we will never be able to prove it, but I can't help but think he was being greedy and looking for an INT. I can only think of 3 reasons to look in the backfield when you're that far down the field and know the ball hasn't been thrown, in that situation. You're being lazy and didn't expect the ball, didn't understand the situation, or were looking for an INT.

He can't play corner which is why he was moved to safety and it appears he can't play that position either. He gets fooled all the time and doesn't have the instincts to play safety. He looks like a JAG. He's a better broadjumper than a football player.
I wish there was a dislike option, because I watched the same game as you, how can you come out swinging at Byron? Lets talk coaches, missed assignments, aweful LB play(we had one come to play and his name starts with S). We sucked, but Byron was the least of our problems on d.

Check the stats...Jones shut down the opposing TE all year. He quit on the most important play of the game Sunday and IF you take away that catch Cook only has 60 plus yards and no TD...unlike the coaching staff I believe Jones will learn from his mistake and grow. I doubt we ever see him easing up on a play again.

He may never be a pro bowl caliber player but he is not a bust, at least not yet. He had a solid year but did give up some plays when we needed him to make a big play.

Yep.

I like Jones better than Heath/Wilcox/Church.

Personally I match Jones with a totally new safety who's not even on the roster.

Me too.

I'd keep Jones at FS, re-sign Wilcox and let Church go. Wilcox has shown he can make plays, just not reliable as a starter.

We got crappy coaching...When I was watching some of the Pittsburgh game they were discussing how much better Pittsburgh secondary has gotten as the season went on, and about how much time Mike Tomlin put in with the secondary coaching them up...all I read was leading up to our game was about how healthy we were heading into the GB game, the defense sucked from the get go, as is the case with Marrinell the adjustments come far too late and our strength against a weak GB defense, our offense started out way to slow as often has been the case this year...simply we need better coaching, we just do...too many of our player, Jones included seem to reach a certain level of productivity and the ceilings capped...
