There are only a few pieces of actual chicken on the defense...the rest is chicken poop (to be family friendly) and Coach rod is trying to take what is mostly chicken poop and turning it into chicken salad.

Jones is one of the few pieces of chicken. They need more pieces of actual chicken on the defensive side of the ball starting with the D Line.

Pretty much

He does enough that we can't hate him
but not enough for us to really want him.
Upside is he is still really young, and does have the physical talent to be a top 12 cb in the league... but his entire life he has had someone to emulate... we need to give him a role model.... honestly Romo to the Jets for Revis + a 2nd rounder is my current go to move.

That and coming up small in the biggest game of the year. And he just didn't come up small, he got whooped by an average TE. Made Jared Cook look like Rob Gronkowski, Tony Gonzalez and Steve Largent all rolled into one. Crayton came up small in the biggest game of the year in 07-08, but the difference is, he was a 7th round pick out of NWOSU, Jones is a first rounder that's getting outplayed by Jeff Heath.

It was zone coverage. When you give the QB time, he beats the zone. That's how zone coverage works--you take away the early looks and try to get the QB. If you're blaming Jones, you don't understand the defense we were playing.

Please dude stop, Don't stand there and act like I am not aware of what defense Jones was playing. You haven't been paying attention. You might be a huge fan of his, but I am not. I am not a believer in drafting a player based on their workouts. That was how my friend was drafted but flamed out. Get the Concept?

I get that you don't have realistic expectations or haven't been paying close attention. Byron Jones hasn't flamed out and isn't going to. He's a very solid player, worthy of the investment, and he's getting better.

I am sorry that I expect a first round draft pick to have more then 1 TO in 2 years.... Such an unrealistic expectation

Yet, I am the one who hasn't been paying attention

I guess if that's the only way you measure performace. Most people realize that there's a lot more to it than that. Especially when Byron Jones plays man-to-man on most passing downs.

You're not being rational and just want to project your frustration onto one person because it's easier for you to process that way. I get it.

Getting those players at those price-points and then having the players play to those respective levels obviously isn't a given as we've found out.

This is true but the investment was the best investment we've made in defensive line is second round picks and lower.

Good grief,, how many times must we bang our heads against the wall, and repeat the following.....
If you dont have a good pass rush, your secondary will suffer... why is this so hard to comprehend?
This secondary would probably be top 5 in the league, if we had anything coming off the edge.
Yes we have seen glimpses, and have hope with the David Irvings, but he was his usual invisible self on Sunday, never even noticed him when it counted most.
You dont move Byron Jones to Corner,, you leave him right where he is at, so that when we actually put some edge rushers in place on this team, then you see we have an Ed Reed type FS.
It is not Byron Jones fault, he is playing his natural position,,, get this through your heads,,, you do not fix a pass rush issue by creating chaos in your secondary,,, you fix that issue by drafting and signing DEs that can get to the QB.
Damn the stupidity.

Yep.

I like Jones better than Heath/Wilcox/Church.

Personally I match Jones with a totally new safety who's not even on the roster.
I get a new safety too but, really, I'm using more three safety looks when I do that.

Jones/Berry/Wilcox or Heath. That gives you all kinds of flexibility. It's not as black and white as having two safeties on your roster anymore, or at least, it doesn't have to be.

Yea, let's take a guy whose major weakness is being unable to see the throw coming and make a play on it and move him to cornerback.

I'm sorry, I don't let the outcome of a football game 'hurt" me. You should seek some counseling though

Sometimes I wish I was the kind of fan who wasn't hurt by losses, but then the wins would be that much less sweat. I'm cool with it. Thanks for the concern though. If and when i go to counseling, it will have nothing to do with football.
