Rogers sat in the pocket for five to six seconds each drop back, and you guys are worried about the defensive backfield?

He had time against the Giants too and look at the investment they made.

The fact is the Packer offensive line can pass block and Rodgers can create extra time for himself by moving about the pocket.

Yeah the Cowboys need more Dline fire-power, but they simply aren't going to be able to generate pressure on every snap... It's impossible.

So improving the secondary talent is a must– In addition to improving the defensive line.

And then you're still going to have times when a guy like Rodgers is going to have plenty of time in the pocket and will deliver pin-point passes and you're going to give up plays.

Byron Jones is the only reason the defense is a step up from garbage. There is absolutely no resources on the unit

We've been improving this secondary every year. We've invested a lot in it. One year we got the best free agent corner and the best rookie in the draft. How long does it take for people to realize it's not the corners it's the pass rush?

Jones is fine. I think he will eventually be a pro bowl player. The negatives on him is he is never going to be a playmaker. Although if you have a playmakers you need guys like Jones who can do a lot of different things. Add a few pressure players to this defense from the D-line and maybe a true playmaker at the other safety spot and the issues people are complaining about Jones will mostly disappear.

Now there is a legit argument if a player is worth a first round pick if he is not a playmaker. Although, I think he was a solid first round pick (I was against the pick at the time as well)

He does seem pretty douchey on his weekly spot on the Ben and Skin show. The way he talks to them seems more condescending than playful. Almost like he feels better than them. He's one of the only players they've had on their show I've gotten that vibe from.

This couldn't happen to a more deserving person. He needs to lose the arrogance. He's already on the fan's bad side for this stunt he pulled.

I've gone back and forth on this. Sure, right now Byron is a much better athlete than football player. But look at Wilcox. Took him 4 years to figure out safety at this level. I say leave Jones at FS and let him develop

Yep.

I like Jones better than Heath/Wilcox/Church.

Personally I match Jones with a totally new safety who's not even on the roster.
Honestly, I'd love to upgrade the other safety position with an Eric Berry type but If worst came to worst I'd like to see Heath get a shot at full time position back there. I said that at the beginning of this off-season.

I'm with you. Heath has really come on.

According to his own words post game he was "trying to maintain zone integrity". lol. There was nobody else in your area bro!?! Hellllllooooooo!!!!! It's that Cook guy who's been killling u all game....may want to go with HIM! Smh. Zone integrity my arse. He fell asleep cuz he didn't think AR would make that throw. He was wrong. Dead wrong.

This.

Everyone was concerned about young guys like Dak and Zeke not having the poise and experience to perform, they forgot about how green guys like Collins, Jones, and Brown were. Jones did not perform well but he should get better with experience, and perhaps, a shift to SS.

Didn't Rodgers draw that last play up in the sand so to speak...so even he knew to target Byron Jones' area

This will always happen as long as he's here. Any critical play at the end of games will be going Byron's way.

And no one else finds it odd that Heath literally made more plays in one playoff game than Byron has his entire career? That's troubling to me

He isnt much of a playmaker right now, but that can develope

You know how you can tell the Cowboys haven't had a true playmaker at Safety in decades? Because people think playmaking ability can be taught...

He was a real arrogant scumbag in preseason interviews. I don't like the guy and I have no idea what he was doing on that last play. Neither does he. We did not draft him in the first round for him to play like this. How many turnovers does he have? 1? This upcoming season he can figure out what the **** he's doing or he can find another team to play for.

Even Jerry Jones has more sense than this. You guys are silly. Take a deep breath.

We lost. Stop trying to put the blame on one guy. If you give Rodgers that much time, he's going to be zone coverage.

Trash- Guy gets such a free pass by people here. You got sucked! -BP

Everyone keeps saying it's because of Jones the secondary is playing better. I disagree there was a change at coaching in the DB position, and it seems that it has helped all the players.

Jones got caught being lazy on the play just like other players under the previous coaching.

No, we aren't. He doesn't produce like a first rounder. 1 turnover in 2 years isn't cutting it.

I guess if that is the only way you measure it. Most people understand that a lot more goes into than that.

It was zone coverage. When you give the QB time, he beats the zone. That's how zone coverage works--you take away the early looks and try to get the QB. If you're blaming Jones, you don't understand the defense we were playing.

Getting those players at those price-points and then having the players play to those respective levels obviously isn't a given as we've found out.
