ezekiel Elliott for the next two games. Rest entire offensive line and defense. Put Sanchez in. I would only play Dez for the half and I wouldn't even study gametape of phila or Detroit now. Our entire focus should be playoffs, the pressure on us will be enormous. Thoughts?
I do think Zeke needs to sit.

Any injury to him and we are done.

Could care less about the Dickerson record.

Not worth the risk..

Requires we have the starter OL out there and that has to be shutdown, too.

Let's not make mistakes based on being greedy.

DAK also needs to sit.

There is nothing to be gained and alot to lose.

Garrett needs to make sense about this.

I understand the NFL frowns on benching players as it affects competitive games..

But you do what is best for the team.

Same could have been said about Emmitt, Dallas won few games he did not play but did not stop Jimmy from playing him in week 17 vs Chicago in 1992. Emmitt was in a battle for the NFL rushing title and Jimmy played him. Emmitt would end up with 131 on 20 carries. Jimmy played his guys to keep them sharp not sit them. Then again Jimmy never coached scared and his team never played scared

I don't think running back posItion is one that needs to 'stay sharp'. Esp a guy like Zeke..he needs minimal carries these last two games

I don't remember Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jay Novacek, Nate Newton or Erik Williams resting during the super bowl runs in the 90's

that's great, but medical consequences of football are more well known and players only have a finite amount of hits they can take before their effectiveness as players ends and it differs from player to player.

Do you want to be safe and good, or do you want to take a chance and be great?

These are football player this is what they train for. Having players sit almost 4 weeks is a receipt for disaster. I have no doubt Garrett will play his guys with some exception of players dealing with injuries.

they aren't sitting 4 weeks though. Practices and weekly preparation is just as important as the games...the intensity of the week preparation should not change. Yes, they should get some live reps in, but they shouldn't be in the whole game.

nope, a young team with nothing in the way of skins on the wall, play them until each game is in hand. Put it in their laps tell them you dominate your opponent and get a 4 TD lead you can rest until then... If this was avet team with years of playoff experience then yes rest them since their is trust they will do the right thing. These pups need to keep running week in week out.

Please.. they were trying to get Romo the passing record, he needed probably less than 50 yards, but Garrett's passing game was already figured out and it carried over into the next year. So they say him close to the end of the half.

What compounded the problem was TO had the high ankle sprain.

Never heard any talk about trying to get Romo a passing record. They needed to play him and the rest of the team for at least a half because the Cowboys playoff game wouldn't be for 13 days and we needed to try and get sharp for the playoffs. Romo wasn't playing well in Dec of 07 and he looked awful against Washington, completing only 44% of his passes and finishing with a 34.9 passer rating. The entire team stunk that day and the 27-6 score didn't even reflect just how bad the team looked. Washington had the game so under control they were pulling starters in the 3rd quarter.

They could have scored 40+ had they not let up. Some of Washington's players were seen laughing on the sidelines as they were embarrassing us. I was completely disgusted with how poorly we played allowing Washington to waltz into the playoffs. We couldn't have ended the 07 season on a worse note. That game showed just how little character and pride that team had. Romo, Witten and a few other players headed to Cabo after that game. Had Parcells stayed as head coach I feel strongly that team would have ended up in the SB. That was one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.

This is a unique situation, any normal team would rest their starting QB in this situation to avoid injury. The difference here is that Dak needs all the experience he can get and if he gets injured you have Tony.

This is not a slight against Dak at all but if Zeke or Dez or Tyron get injured we would be in trouble, not so with Dak.

Good post, we can't afford to lose Zeke, Dez or any of our pro bowlers on Oline, as odd as it sounds an injury to our starting QB wouldn't be a killer, that's something you almost never hear.
Saying that, let's just get through this 2 games without injuries to our starters.

And if you guys paid attention in 2014 you'll recall Garrett isn't the take your foot off the gas pedal type of coach.

I don't necessarily agree to the extent but we'll play our starters heavily these two weeks.
2014 we were fighting for HFA, Garrett couldn't afford to take his foot off the pedal.

I agree they stunk, but that has more to do with them being figured out. Offensive issues in the passing game carried over into the other years when Garrett took full control. It wasn't just the TO high ankle sprain, which also set them back.

Remember, we always failed in December when Garrett was in control of the offense. Every last game when the playoffs were in the line against NFC East opponent, we lost.. the Giants, Eagles and Commanders.. and much of that was because we couldn't pick up a blitz

Romo was primarily in that hand, because of the team trying to get the passing record. They didn't even wait the full half they were getting blasted so bad.
