IF any of you would open your eyes and look at the personel, the offense resembles that of the Triplets era. By no means and I saying they are as talented but Roy is a Irvin type, possesion reciever who should use his body to shield defenders while running slants and outs. Barber is like Emmit with his hard nose running and but doesn't have the break away speed. Romo can't throw deep just like Aikman. And to add the other O weapon, Witten is Just as good as Novacek if not better. Someone needs to put a boot in Garretts but and and tell him to call similar plays to the early 90's. I think fixing the O is that simple.
Aikman didn't have a good deep ball.

The Bills are in worse shape than the Cowboys. Edwards is an average QB who's over thrown a wide open TO several times. TO missed almost all the preseason so Edwards is going to the receivers he's comfortable with. TO demands alot of attention by defenses which allows other receivers to get open. Brandon Marshall made a TO type play against the Cowboys on Sunday to help Denver win that. The Cowboys don't have a receiver who can make that kind of play.

And Owens has dropped a few passes that have hit him right in the hands, including one that would have been a sure fire long TD, so those things even themselves out.

Your stats showed they scored 4 less TDs and the QB had a lower rating so I'm confused how there's no difference?
LOL sorry, the "though I guess the flip side is that it hasn't hurt it much either." was from a different thought I had while writing the post and didn't delete it... my bad.

Those 8 sacks you're leaving out are a pretty big difference between last year and this year. I love how people just totally over look those facts like having TO would have changed the fact the O-Line is giving up more sacks.
I thinking having a player like TO does make a difference in those sack numbers.

First, in fairness to the Oline, I'd credit a 2-3 of those sacks Sunday to the coverage by the Broncos and/or the Cowboy's WR's inability to get open.

There were a few plays where Romo had good protection for a few seconds before it finally broke down. It's also Romo hanging on to the ball instead of maybe throwing it away. I'd say the sack/fumble was the blocking b/c Dumervil came untouched and it was just a good call by the defense.

<sarcasm> Of course if Owens is there, Romo's *forced* to throw to him so he gets rid of the ball, he isn't sacked. </sarcasm>

I don't recall seeing many double-teams on any of the Dallas WRs, which means teams are likely sending an extra guy. TO mades a difference IMO.

The WR's were pretty much open all day, ESPECIALLY when they went up against Andre Goodman. The game goes to OT if Romo bothers looking left on the 2 plays at the end. Romo was just flat out missing everybody on Sunday. He needs to get his crap together.

Dallas misses the old TO, the current TO is not as good as he was 2 years ago. I know Dallas would have kept him (distractions and all) if he could still produce like he used to. The problem with TO now is that his big mouth doesn't match his talent anymore. He is not worth the distractions.

I disagree. In my opinion, Terrell Owens would still be a Dallas Cowboy today if he would have publicly and/or privately accepted a reduced role within the current, "Romo friendly", offensive scheme.

Since he has been proven thoughout much of his career that he cannot avoid creating grandiose media interactions (and probably privately as well), Jerry Jones waived him. Jones had made very public statements as for how much he wanted Owens on his team. I doubt that a slippage of Owens receiving skills alone were enough for finally convincing him to cut Owens.

Roy Williams cannot and will not produce the same numbers as TO. By cutting TO we lost our big play, go-to receiver that we so desperately needed in that last game. Those throws to Champ Bailey? TO would have caught them.

Stop trying to silence our voice!

Freakin homers with your "funny" giffs.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

With T.O. this team would be unstoppable ...... just like it was last year.

At least we could blame Tony's shortcomings on TO's diva act.

That could bide Jerry more time to justify the 69 million dollars and more time to prep to draft Landry Jones.

TO drops balls but he still beats coverage and defenses have to account for him. He'll drop a pass and turn the next one into electrifying score that fires up the team and the crowd. He's a dangerous receiver because he's physical and can turn a routine 10 yard pass into 60 yards and a TD. He can be used as a decoy because he garners respect. This frees other receivers. He can make the kind of play that Brandon Marshall made against the Cowboys last Sunday. The Cowboys don't have any receivers who put fear in anyone. Jerry's biggest mistake wasn't necessarily cutting TO it was not replacing him with a productive receiver. He replaced him with Crayton who he replaced with RW the year prior. It cost Jerry 3 picks to replace Crayton with RW and he hasn't been any better than Crayton so far this season. lol If we had TO he would help free some of our other receivers. If we had TO on those last two plays against Denver that game could have turned out differently. Had it been TO instead of Hurd on that 53 yard pass it would have been a TD. The Cowboys need a fast, big play receiver.

Great Post. Filled with facts and not a homeristic agenda.

I thought the Cowboys receivers were open, and Romo just couldn't hit them in stride.

So even if T.O. was here, and he freed up other receivers, Romo still has to connect with the pass, which he wasn't able to do.

P.S., why people want to ban posters simply for giving their opinion is beyond me. I may not agree with you (I'm speaking in general not you in specific) but if your comments are related to football and the Cowboys - right or wrong - they have a place here.

Discussion and disagreement are healthy parts of conversation, relationships and growth.

Granted Romo is missing receivers on occasion but 3 of his sacks last week were coverage sacks. In the games Troy Aikman has done he's said the receivers aren't getting open and he has a much better vantage point than us viewing on TV.
