We knew this was how they thought. Jerry thinks players win, coaches aren't really important, so get the ones who make your highest paid players happy.

What's so stupid is this was the reason for forcing Kellen onto Mike, because Kellen was Dak's BFF and Dak wouldn't have to learn a new system. Then just a few years later, they keep the guy who replaced Kellen, why? Because Dak likes him and keeps him comfortable.

Since Prescott is wielding so much power in the building, here's to hoping he uses it to force the Jones boys to change their ways regarding free agency.

Hopefully, Prescott and Micah can use the leverage they have for good. Lol

Makes sense. We saw what Dak looks like this year with continuity. Imagine how bad it could be without continuity!

Not really. Give him a better Oline, a better running game, at least more than 1 legit WR weapon and a better playcall designer, Dak will still light you up.
We'll see when he comes back, if he is still too slow in the backfield, taking sacks, like he was before the injury. The big question is which Dak will you get when he comes back.

- Bucs improved Baker Mayfield with a new play caller

- Josh Allen improved with a new play caller

- Lamar Jackson improved with a new play caller

- yet we are totally paranoid about seeking a much more improved play caller and scheme for Dak ?

No they wanted a cheap option that saved them money. You can point to saving money as the reason for every single contract decision the Cowboys make, especially for coaching.

Remember the reports when Big Mike got here was that Dak insisted on Kellen staying to keep continuity with the offense. This guy does not want to learn a new O.
Cause he knows he sucks. Our offense is so basic. Dak has failed up. I really don't get it. The Dak era is going to go down as one of the worst eras get this guy off the team

So, our highest paid QB in the history on the NFL can't be bother to learn a new offense? Oh, poor guy.

The longer he is in a Dallas uniform, the more and more I can't stand him.

The only way they can win with Dak is to have a dominant running game. The running backs are available in the upcoming draft. They better draft two of them or they will be in a no win situation with a qb that can't run and escape anymore.
So we'll probably re-sign Dowdle for relatively cheap and not draft a running back until the fifth round.

It was a red flag when Boise State, his alma mater where he was a legend, decided to pass on him after he interviewed.
 They didn't pass on him. They were talking but Moore withdrew his name from consideration because he wanted to focus on his career in the NFL.

They only had to pay and extra $50 for Schottenheimer.

X GROK LLM Response to being asked how fans feel about Schottenheimer being hired.

Grok (The LLM on X) is crap... but it does very well at showing sentiment of X users based on their posts.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The reaction among Dallas Cowboys fans to the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as the new head coach has been largely negative based on recent sentiments expressed on X and web discussions. Here's a breakdown of the prevailing opinions:

Disappointment and Frustration:
Many fans are expressing significant disappointment with the decision. Some have even voiced their intention to "boycott" games or have given up hope on the team. There's a feeling that the hiring is uninspired and represents a continuation of the status quo, which has not led to recent success in terms of playoff wins or Super Bowl appearances.

Criticism of the Hiring Process: Fans are critical of the Cowboys' decision-making process, suggesting that the team did not explore enough high-profile or innovative coaching candidates. The choice of Schottenheimer, who has never been a head coach before, is seen by some as a safe but uninspired choice, potentially chosen for comfort rather than innovation or proven success.

Concerns About Performance: There's skepticism about Schottenheimer's ability to elevate the team, given his track record. His past as an offensive coordinator, where his teams had mixed results, has led to concerns about whether he can effectively lead the Cowboys to success. Some fans are worried that this hire might not challenge the existing team structure or lead to significant improvements in team performance.

A Minority Positive Perspective: Not all opinions are negative, however. A few fans have expressed a cautious optimism, pointing out that Schottenheimer's familiarity with the team and players could lead to continuity and stability, especially with quarterback Dak Prescott. There's an acknowledgment that every first-time head coach is a gamble, suggesting that if Schottenheimer can leverage his experience and rapport with the team, he might succeed against the odds.

Overall, while there are some fans trying to find positives in this situation, the majority sentiment on January 25, 2025, seems to lean towards skepticism, frustration, and disappointment with the choice of Brian Schottenheimer as the Cowboys' new head coach.
