So, this is a Dak-driven decision?

Wouldn't be easier to simply hire the best possible coach and either get Dak to adapt or move on from Dak.

We've seen this organization "simplify" the offense for Dak. Now, we're simplifying the HC for Dak?

A little bit.

Say that reminds me, how is that work on getting that ghastly Carson Wentz tramp stamp removed working out for you? I know we have not chatted for a while.
See I thought we were having a nice conversation this morning.

You're crossing some lines.

What I don't understand is that if everything was about enabling Dak, then why don't we ever sign any free agents? Why did we trot Zeke out there last year? Why did we start two rookies on the OL?

This whole 'we need to do it for Dak' stuff is crap. The Joneses are doing this because he's the cheapest available option. Continuity with Dak is just a plus to them, not the point of the hiring.

Move on from Dak? That would be preposterous to this front office.

So many guys are saying Brian might be a good coaching hire though he did not have any play calling duties. Yet many of the same members on this board where against hiring Eric bieniemy saying he "was not ready" because he did not have play calling duties as an OC in Kansas City.

Hmm. I wonder why the double standard?
I don't think its double standard at all, especially with Eric. Andy Reid did his damnest to prepare groom Eric for HC job. He actually gave him play calling duties and when help get a the job as the Commanders OC but in the end Eric's lack of leadership skills cost him. I'm sure he knew Reid's playbook as good as Reid but getting players to buy in and trust you completely different.

Wasn’t there friction with EB and players at both KC and Washington?

This is like Aikman’s last declining days when the team was talking about hiring Aikman’s old UCLA Coach just to get the best out of their QB. Look forward to the days when the Cowboys do what everyone else does and try to find another winning QB in the first round.

This is the dumbest reason/excuse I've ever seen. Another example of these cowards hiding behind their high dollar players to explain their own ineptitude.

How about hiring the best coach available? Instead of hiring some bum who couldn't even get an interview FROM ANYONE ELSE in the entire league. Gee, what a concept.

This was the same reason they kept Garrett around for so long. Lots of 8-8 continuity.
I've mentioned this a few times now, but it appears that Jerry (probably Stephen most of all) wants to harken back to the Garrett days as if it was some golden age for the team.

Safe, boring, vanilla offense and defense and a puppet coach. Mediocre all the way. That's the identity of the Dallas Cowboys in the modern era. Meanwhile the REST OF THE LEAGUE AND FOOTBALL WORLD goes in the exact opposite direction.

Like I said his best season not best stat season. It was the best season for Dallas with Dak at QB. To continue to hire personnel/coaches and to build around Dak is not a winning recipe. I hope I am wrong and I will pull hard for Dak because I want to win. I have been diehard Cowboys fan since a small child in the 70s and pull hard for whoever is wearing the Star.
No, what you are saying is that a better OL and RB made things real easy for Dak and the offense when he was a rookie. That still wasn't the best Dak.
