We're Still Firmly In QB Purgatory

I hear people say that "we don't appreciate what we have" and must have forgotten about "the QBs between Aikman and Romo".

We're still there. It's just a little prettier.

It's time for this organization to take the QB position seriously again. I'd much rather be on the QB search than be handcuffed to a QB that requires everything to be perfect around him. The margin for error in roster building is incredibly small with a QB of Dak Prescott's skill level. We have to hit on everything to succeed with Dak at QB and that takes a lot of smarts and luck.

You're not going to draft the next Patrick Mahomes if you handcuff yourself to Alex Smith.
No offense to Romo......he didn't win anything.

What are your qualifications to say that?

A lot of good QBs have had less-than-stellar seasons. That said, I wouldn't mind the FO drafting a small D1 school stud.

You got 2 drafts to try to hit on one. Hit FA for your need positions and try to find a guy in the late 1st or 2nd both years!

But don't pay Dak again!

If you want Jethro to get rid of Dak you need to root for 5-12 seasons. 12-5 seasons isn’t going to make it happen.
That's probably true - successful regular seasons make Jerry money hand over fist I am sure. Having nothing at QB could lose him money.

Still no reason not to draft an early round QB.

Gotta treat the QB like any other position and always be drafting and developing them.

100%.

Heck Howell was a 5th rounder. Not saying he’s going to be the guy in Wash but you saw some tools yesterday.

Our own Dak was a late 4th. Like him or not he's good enough to start. Rush, won 5 of 6 games, better than several 1st rounders. Mike White, i dont remember where we took him so i'll say late rounder or undrafted? He's beating out a 1st round pick for the jets. The Cowboys seem to get lucky finding a little talent later in the draft if these guys get time to develop. Keep it going and on cheapish contracts untill you get an elite guy.

Yea, I mean our biggest problem IMO is the FO not the QB.

But again perfectly fine to keep drafting QBs.

I agree they need to have a plan to replace Dak before he asks for more money with his next contract. But finding another Mahomes is a long shot. We need to be prepared to have a bad season or two, or get really lucky finding the next Tom Brady. But one thing I would insist on when drafting my next QB and that is very high football intelligence, even more than arm strength. Of course he can't have a dead arm but I'd take a Drew Breeze if there is one. But I do not under any circumstances want a QB who makes the most mental mistakes on the team.
