I hear people say that "we don't appreciate what we have" and must have forgotten about "the QBs between Aikman and Romo".
We're still there. It's just a little prettier.
It's time for this organization to take the QB position seriously again. I'd much rather be on the QB search than be handcuffed to a QB that requires everything to be perfect around him. The margin for error in roster building is incredibly small with a QB of Dak Prescott's skill level. We have to hit on everything to succeed with Dak at QB and that takes a lot of smarts and luck.
You're not going to draft the next Patrick Mahomes if you handcuff yourself to Alex Smith.
My honest opinion, Troy Aikman makes Romo and Dak look like rookies, but I don’t for a second think Troy would be very successful with this team. Troy never had to deal with receivers as bad as what we have behind Ceedee. Troy would not like the way our interior line gets pushed back. He never had to deal without a run game, and he never played with such bad defenses as Romo and Dak have had.
Everyone knew we had issue on the OL this year….everyone wondered about Tyron, and he didn’t get out of training camp. We all worried about replacing the guy we hated—LG Connor Williams, about the loss of Lael Collins, and about our center. Well, the center held his own, and Steele was a pleasant surprise until he was lost. So we’ve played a rookie at LT and Connor McGovern who is no upgrade over Williams.
We went into the season with a #3 wr coming back from knee reconstruction, hoping he’d be a #2 and basically nothing else except a third round rookie.
We had high hopes for a defense that still had serious weakness at DT, but injuries and the late season playoff style offenses have exposed it.
Dak is a good QB that we can win with, but I know we could try to upgrade and a better QB would be…..better, but if you think better QB play would fix this team, you are wrong.
