We're Still Firmly In QB Purgatory

Cowboys should work out and sign QB Nathan Rourke of the British Columbia Lions (CFL). Never heard of him? I suggest you do a little research. Half the NFL is taking a look at the guy. Why not us?

I hear people say that "we don't appreciate what we have" and must have forgotten about "the QBs between Aikman and Romo".

We're still there. It's just a little prettier.

It's time for this organization to take the QB position seriously again. I'd much rather be on the QB search than be handcuffed to a QB that requires everything to be perfect around him. The margin for error in roster building is incredibly small with a QB of Dak Prescott's skill level. We have to hit on everything to succeed with Dak at QB and that takes a lot of smarts and luck.

You're not going to draft the next Patrick Mahomes if you handcuff yourself to Alex Smith.

Put you account up on that bet.

I agree, and I DON'T hate Dak. He's a great guy, but we should be looking to upgrade the position, granted that's extremely difficult. So you draft a QB and let him compete for the position.

I'd much rather have Russell Wilson.

At this point I would too. I don't know what his deal is in Denver but he has won a Super bowl. Dak won't get anywhere near one.

Last night just makes me so angry. How do you show up and perform like that?

He really is.
You’re so blinded by your homerism. Not many non Cowboy fans would put him in the top 10. If you’re not in the top 1/3 of the league, then you are certainly not one of the best.

It would not be as difficult to improve at the position as you think it is…not from a talent/production standpoint. It would only be difficult because of his contract

28-15 td/int ratio ?
That's all you took out of the Rourke story? Five of those were from his rookie year in 2021. You might want to dig a little deeper. 25/10 this past season. Keep in mind they throw A LOT more in the CFL. A ton of teams are working him out for good reason. KC, Arizona, Minny, Indy, Cincy, Las Vegas, Denver, Tampa, Jacksonville and the list is growing.

Well, you’re obviously clueless. So enjoy.

I love what I have seen of him!! He's an outstanding QB. I mentioned him a few times on these boards.

This organization needs to be looking at the draft for a QB starting now. If they are happy paying a QB 40 million who can't read a defense then they really don't take winning serious.

Agree completely but Dak can’t be moved for two more seasons. His contract just doesn’t allow it. I’m all for drafting a guy though and getting him ready for 2025.
It's amazing how we have a top 10 QB according to a lot of posters here, yet we're stuck with him. Has there ever been a top 10 QB a team can't trade?

No, and there still hasn't in our case. Because Dak is not a top 10 QB.

I'm sort of in the same boat...although Dak is clearly better than anything the Cowboys had between the Aikman-Romo days. For that reason I am not eager to get rid of Dak without some plan B in mind, but I also don't think you pass up someone you really like because of Dak. Personally, I think you either have an elite QB or you should always be on the look for one. I think the Cowboys can win with Dak, but give me a Burrow, Mahomes, etc and I'm not setting myself up mentally for a letdown as I am now.

If the Cowboys get an Aaron Rodgers situation in the draft this year I'm all for taking it. If the Cowboys find a mid round guy they want to develop for 2025 they should go for it. It's really just a matter of how everything else falls. The problem is these situations don't happen every year. Sounds like the Cowboys were close last year with Sam Howell, but Washington got to him first.

What I'm not a huge fan of is going the Colts route and continuing to bring in vet QB after vet QB, giving up draft capital and being disappointed every year.

Agreed 100%

I wonder if a team would give up a pick for Dak. Kind of like how the Eagles unloaded Wentz who was worse for a first round pick.
